Lowering Honda Jazz GE

Hi all ozhonda members,

Happy New Year..!!!

I have a few question regarding lowering Honda Jazz GE.

I have lowered my civic in the past using Tein S-Tech spring kit and I was happy with the result but I'm contemplating on getting a coilover for my missus' jazz since you can adjust the damper and height.

My goal is to get better look and better handling (50/50)

What I want to know is would going with coilover make the ride unbearable?

How much can I expect to spend on a second hand coilover?

I have a mate of a mate who is selling a hks hipermax s compact, he is asking $1700 for it... Is it cheap???

HKS is usually quite expensive, because its a well known brand for good quality parts. or atleast they are meant to be.

but truth is you can get brand new coilovers alot cheaper, 1700 second hand is quite a lot.

second hand set could be 700-1200$ you can probably by BC racing ones for about 1200$ brand new (or cheaper) they arent bad. K-Sport seems to be a respected brand and set you back about 1k after shipping from the states (ebay it).

the harshness depends on the spring rate, although you can change it a bit with damper rate adjustment.
but when you hit the bump the first shock cant be modified it is determined by stiffness of the springs, the damper controlls how the car lets the wheel back to the ground sort of. so u can smoothen it out.
im not good at explaining.

my dad tuned the suspension in my old jazz, it went from being hard (too hard for a grandmother but i didnt care) to being somewhat softer but more bouncy.

overall i think good progressive springs would be a better buy. look for ones that arent too low though, otherwise you have pull out the inner splash guards etc.

coils arent worth it unless your a sporty driver all the time.

Good spring and Shock set way to go mate for a daily warrior and maybe some track days.

Have heard good things about ebiach (my spellings probs wrong)
Google it, guys in the states rate them very good.

I've just installed H&R Sport Springs in my automatic GE8, 1.6 inch drop Front & 1.3 inch Rear.

With the OEM wheels its 1 finger gap Front & 2 & a bit Rear. (Maintains the OEM forward rake/ stance)

The overall ride quality is similar to stock, still smooth & compliant.

A little bit of bounce on road dips, & understeering on corners is now felt more, slightly fixed by left foot braking.

Body roll on corners has been reduced.

Overall quite happy with them.

what is the best lowering height for 16x8 et25 with stretched tyres??

as i need to buy coils or coilovers.. dunno which one to pick aswell...

donno abt springs but my buddyclub coilovers still handles like shiit jst a tad better than stock
16x8 +25 gonna poke might need to pull guards
the front guards looks weak as rear guard stop halfway cos rear bar comes up too high so if wheels are too wide might scrap the rear bar instead
im running 16x7 +35 on 205/45 rolled guards scraps when i hit bumps

got no problem with rolling or flaring guards... and yes your right about the rear bumper guard mounting points is pretty high, but if i flare out the guards enough hopefully this should widen as well.

but what is the best drop height for the above setup?

highly recommend to just go straight to coilovers, no complains with a set of good coilovers, like these guys on FB, they have member specials sometimes.
