Hi there.
I am currently in the market for a Honda Civic Sport 07-08, this will be first Civic.
Would like to know if anyone here has any advice on them, things to look out for etc..

Also has anyone compared the 5spd manual to the paddle shift in terms of performance, if so which is better, I prefer manual but do a lot city driving so if the paddle shift is almost as good as 5spd manual then might go with that.

Possible engine mods for increased performance would also be appreciated, I will do exhaust and air filter, then what would be the next thing to do?

The automatic has longer gears compared to manual therefore auto is less zippy to drive but its more laid back kind of driving

If you're doing city driving an automatic will be more forgiving in terms of petrol, but paddle shifters don't really feel the same as a manual, but will at least give you the feeling you are driving a manual.

For increased performance, in all honesty, you aren't really going to achieve anything massive, but in saying that if you look into changing the intake (Cold Air Intake (CAI)/ Short Ram Intake (SRI)/ K&N Filter), or a increase the air intake into the throttle (P2R Throttle Body Spacer), or changing the headers or the exhaust system altogether you might gain a little bit.

But do keep in mind, the Civic is an economy car, not a race car.

theres not many performance mods out for the fd2, due to fact that theres fd2r in japan and the si in the usa where they cater performance parts for em... the k20z2 engine is a watered down version of the whole k20 series

u can do the usually custom intake and exhaust.. for a genuine intake to fit fd2, gotta change the intake manifold just for a cai to fit, too much $$ for little gain

I thought the engine gives a good balance of power and economy for a 2.0 engine
Smooth and free reving engine, enough to push u back to seat a bit when full throttle...
Who needs a more powerful engine for a daily car ? ;))))))))

Thanks for the responses, are there any performance chips that would work on this vehicle, looking for easy gains at low cost.

its not cheap ... first you are looking at a hondata ecu $700~ (from their website), plus tuning, plus mods, plus what ever else ... you're looking at spending a lot for maybe 10~20kw.

Word, probably not worth it for that, would rather spend the $'s on tints, springs and powder coating the mags.
Get it looking like this stealth mobile wouldn't cost much: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3945764/2008-honda-civic-si-sedan-4d/

It does work, you just need to tweak it a bit ... one of the users on here got it working.

the engine in question lacks the hardware.. sorry dude, just the harsh reality here

Who got it working? I've been guaranteed that it won't work on AU spec ECUs

Same thing ive been told, I have been tempted to get an FA5 ECU, Immobiliser delete and flashpro. But its too much money to fork out to possibly fail.
Went with haltech in the end.

...why not just get EP3R? Save time and money. You get the K20A in it. Then you can upgrade to Hondata K-pro.
