Cheap B18 conversion question.

Due to budget restrictions.

Is it worth doing a b18c7 motor on the b16a2 gearbox in an em1?

I have gone the b16 motor wit the b18 gearbox major let down lol

Will the other way be better?

If you already have a b16 w/b18 gbox, i would build a b20/vtec and replace the b18 gbox final drive with a 4.7:1, as for what you will pay to source a b18c7, you will see better gains from the b20/vtec for the same prices

Lol i sold the car for that reason, i hated the box lol. Buying a new em1 either tmr or firday.

B18c7 mated with the b16 gearbox goes off. The gear ratios are shorter for 1,2 and 3 allowing for faster acceleration while 4 and 5 are a bit longer which is perfect for highway driving.

I would still recommend building a b20/vtec instead of fitting a b18c7. Cant go past all that extra torque

I think b16 with b18 LSD box goes pretty good. If you got the money as said by everyone try b20, you wont be able to rev out that high but it should be more fun to drive around than just the b18 without LSD box.
