My clutch pedal squeaks, I don't think it's a big deal, I personally feel 142,000 is in the higher range..

You also need to think about resale value, when you go to sell it e.g if in 2 years lets assume minimum of 15k a yr you put on 30k Kms leaving it at around 170,000 Kms..

It's not just you that is fussy I think alot of people look into how many Kms the car has on it (I'm not stating this is a rule of
Thumb) it'll be hard to sell.

Anyway Id recommend an inspection, not necessarily by stateroads.

I have had a stateroads inspection on a car I didn't end up buying but I wasn't too happy with it, I think with a big company like that its the luck of the draw on which mechanic your issued with.

I'd get a mechanic your familiar with or recommended to you to have a look over the car.

Goodluck with it all.

142K kms isn't high KMs - it's in the prime of it's life. What you really want to make sure of is compression etc. My old EF9 Civic's unopened B16A (I owned it since 90K kms) was running with close to factory compression at close to 300K kms - right until it got totalled by a bus. As long as it hasn't been abused you're on a good thing - dings etc are negotiating points (be aware that all DC2R rear bumpers are susceptible to drooping - I'm about to get mine fixed and it only has 42K kms on it).

Edit - my E30 is still going strong - the odometer broke at 240K kms and I've put close to another 90K kms on it since I've owned it - 2.7 6cyl admittedly, but a B18 is a better built motor than an M20B27.

Anything under 200k kms is good enough for me. As long as the car was looked after... 140 is nothing. Especially for a beast honda engine.
