I just bought a works engineering simota air filter. The info says its the oil type. Given that its new, do I have to oil it first, or can i just drop it in ?

Does it feel oily? If so, drop it in!

9/10 times filters come pre oiled.

actually i just read from their websites, that its suitable for oiled and non oiled conditions, so is it better to oil an air filter or just leave it ?

I personally am not a fan on oiled filters, i go for the paper ones, but they are $$$

Oil just helps the dirt and particles stick to the filter better, unless you do a lot of driving on a dirt road, it wont matter

All the ones I've seen have come oiled. Just stick it in IMO

It should be pre-oiled. It's only meant to be oiled lightly. So it's normal that you can't 'feel' it easily. If it was soaking in oil you could cause some fun issues! I would say just pop it in and let us know how it feels =D
