Hey guys. i gather that any after market parts that fit on a type S will fit on the Type R? Is this correct. i mean they have the same motors dont they?
also i was reading motor magazine and in the back it has all the car specs:
the type S comes out standard with 7 kws more than the stock type R. but the type s weighs 1250kg or some where close, and the type R weighs 1160kgs. does anybody know which is quicker over a 1/4 mile. the new oz type S or the oz Type R?

not according to motor magazine  :
"...Despite a 70kg increase in mass over the old car, the S is quicker on the Correvit. It records a 7.46s 0-100km/h sprint (7.75s for R) and crosses the 400m marker in 15.39 at 151.3km/h (still more than a tenth quicker than the R)..."

The Type S is slightly quicker than the DC5R.even though it weighs a tad more...It would go well against a Prelude VTIR as well..so there around the same spec

3" is way way to big, thats what u put on turbo cars, 2.25" is usually the best size for hondas, but some say 2".

sorry but how do you compare a PRELUDE to an Integra? Integras have a kerb weight of just over a ton right? where as preludes are like 300kg more! its like comparing apples to organges! it's true the KW figures may be the same, but there's so much more than that. Plus so many preludes are AUTO!!!
BTW Type S are designed to be cruisier cars, whilst type Rs are designed for the track more, with stiffer suspension and a harsher ride...

The Type R is heavily de-tuned by honda aswell so taking that into account.....plus the LSD and the 'PH' fat recaros....i know wat id get.

From what i've heard, 3" is quite acceptable for the type s, apparently they respond very well to the larger diameter exhaust!! I believe this goes For all the k20's so type r may benefit also?!?

yep 3' is quite acceptable for type s' and type r's because of the high rpm these cars can reach. i think i read the same article as u bennyBear lol.. K20 respond better with bigger exhaust

Bel Garage knows there Honda's pretty well. A mech from Bel owns a mildly modified dc2r himself.

if you were to read on the standard equipment part of this.. you would see that the typeS does have an LSD :)

where can i find proof of that dude??? anyone have an actual site that states otherwise??
the only difference with the type R and the type S is the interior/exterior asthestics
talk about nfi...
despite obvious interior/exterior asthestics, the s has the following over the r:
- revised suspension
- larger intake
- larger exhaust
- no lsd

I have read quite a few reviews on the S and they all say the S has no lsd. There was an article that was scanned and posted up on CRSX. Try a search there in the Australian section.
There is an easy way to test it any ways. You have a S rite? When its wet and when your turning give it a little and the LSD light should come on, especially if there are tram tracks on the road. The R's LSD is sensitive as hell.

hahaah
this thread is really funny... some posts made me wonder if any of you guys actually have a DC5R or DC5S... ROTFL!!
FACT AUDM DC5R:
- 147kw
- VISCOUS LSD, its not a proper LSD nor issit electronical
- 1160kg, dry weight
- R does SUBBBBBBB 15sec 400m!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i've got clocked a 15flat... cuz i'm a shit driver.. hehe with a capable driver should be closer to 14.7sec, or even quicker, and my car was fully stock, 3,000km on the clock.. at the time
FACT AUDM DC5S:
- 154kw
- NOOOOOOO LSD!!!
- Revised suspension to accomodate for missing LSD
- 1230kg, Dry weight
- 400m very close to the R, but should be a whisker quicker cuz of the higher torque, power and more linear power curve, yes.. and dispite the weight, it can do this.. with a capable driver of course
what car do i drive? check out my nick

I have a type s and thats correct, there is NO LSD!!! On the August SPEED magazine issue number 022 in the section where they compared the 05 type s and the DC2R, They even said the Type S dont have LSD.
And "http://www.redbook.com.au/vehiclesearch/detail.asp?key=HOND05CT&veh=y" why are they putting Air conditioning in the "Optional Equipment", Climate control air conditioning is standard.
