Hey all.

Bought this 97 ek gli with 165000km on it. Main purpose was finally get a manual car, and a car that I could play around with. Came with expired rego. So my dad said cancel it -- most stupid thing to do. Now I need a blue slip x___x

Seller had his setup stolen (ie. rear window and front driver broken in so they could steal his rear 6x9s that were attached to a custom mdf parcel shelf.). But he replaced the windows before selling to me, and even supplied me with some new nakamichi's (good?bad?)

Interior is absolutely shit and smells like wet cigs. The passenger carpet had mould starting to grow. Haven't got pictures of that. But I did go pick up some newer carpets. I wonder if I should do the DIY where I add black carpet on top, or dye the "newer" carpet.
Also picked up some "newer" seats. Is it true that the pre-facelift EK had grey seats and facelift had darker ones?

Dents are mainly plotted along the RHS. Because they're just plotted along the RHS, if I respray the spots I bog+fill with a gun, will it look obvious? Or should I simply respray the whole RHS?

Hood has faded to shits. Not sure if buffing it would even do it justice.

Engine seems to be running really hot. The hood was hot to touch upon getting it home. And when I stepped out, my foot felt all this hot air rushing out from underneath. Can someone tell me if something like this has happened to their EK?

This is what the purple turd looks like now:

tl;dr?
1. Dye carpet or place a new layer over it?
2. Respray the bog+fill individually or respray the entire RHS?
3. Seems to be running a bit hot (however, temp gauge sits in the middle). Hot air rushes out when you step out, and hood gets hot to touch.
4. Any suggested mods? :)

Respray entire panels, not localised patches... unless you're a master of painting and blending.

Hot is fine - bonnet should always be quite warm to touch, although burning hot isn't. the hot air under the car is from the fans.

If the paint is still good, but you only have some dents, then I would recommend getting some quotes from a paintless dent removalist before going down the spraying route!

Just worry about getting it over the inspection/pits/roadworthy
Then worry about everything else
Check your radiator fans come on when car is at operating temperature
