are pod filters legal in SA?

hey guys, i am on the urge to install a SRI on my dc4 and was wondering if anyone knows whether its legal to have one here in SA? cause my mate got pulled over one night and was told to pop his hood and he has a SRI in his eg civic but they didnt say anything about it. but my other mate who owns a s13 was pulled over and was defected because of his pod filter. i've done a bit of research but i havent got any straight answers because some people say that as long as its mounted then its fine, but some say they are just illegal. thanks heaps.

Honestly im still running stock airbox and intake in my dc2
theres already a pod filter inside the airbox stright from stock anyway

not sure about SA either.
i just had a quick look on their website

it doesnt say anything about pod filter.
it might be a good idea to contact them and see.

In WA, as long as it is safely secured, pod filter is ok.

Technically exposed filters are illegal, they must be in a closed box and properly secured of course with all usual hoses attached as per standard.

OP Listen to Mooshie, he said it exactly right!

But he's 1,000 times right about it all depending on the cop you get at the time. Even if you do it properly (put it in a closed box, make sure it doesn't rattle around and it's properly mounted) the cop may still screw you around.

if your pod filter is exposed within the engine bay it will have to be covered up, but if the the intake and pod filter at the end is down at the bottom it is fine.

??? Think this has been covered, and SA is very different to other states when it comes to policing of legalities. Repeat. Exposed filter is NOT legal.
