Hey guys, I need help have no idea whats wrong with my baby but sometimes when driving i get to a red light put it in idle and the revs increases by itself then drops pass 1k then stalls out on its own this is while in neutral. my car is a 2001 ap1 had my service done about 2000k's ago, this only happens at a complete stop, the car itself drives fine vtec engage as usual no other problems just when I get to a stop it does the same shitt and when this happens it happens at every stop after it. as i said this is only some times for example driving for 2 days no problem. Also it hapens if car is ruining cold/warm just random timing. and car is completely stock besides cosmetic work. PLEASE HELP ME!!! much appreciated.

Just abit of an update today driving it to work no problems and just abit more info on the problem is that when this happens the revs are much more higher then usual in all gears for example driving in gear 5-6 at 40-50kmd the revs stay at 3000rpm+ when I'm not even on the gas. It's ment to be siting at low revs at such a high gear. (It sort of feels like down shift breaking)

sydney. I have also researched seems there is a link between the spark plugs and this problem and "map whack" has anyone else had this problem in the past?

Could be a very dirty iac valve?
Try cleaning that out first before doing anything
I can help clean the iac valve for you if your interested

dude before you go pulling out your iacv n all that, just check all air hoses and lines from the air filter are all good and not cracked or leaking.. i went to the extent of swapping sensors iacvs n etc n turned out being a cracked hose leaking a lil air.. If the sensor tells the ecu its receiving a certain amount of air with certain temp, and then this amount changes/leaks before it gets to the engine.. it trips out n stalls mainly during idle because your pushing only a litle amount of air through.. when your revving it n openning it up, it's taking alot of air in and wont notice it if only a little bit is leaking.

Hope i make sense.

just make sure every connection/component of the intake system is intact and not taking in/leaking air from anywhere it shouldn't be. take the airbox lid off, check the filter was replaced and fitted properly, make sure the fat rubber hose connecting the airbox to the manifold is all on well on both points, make sure the temp sensor is connected and mounted properly, and any other little hose/connector around it.

Cheers for the replies.
Alps I will definitely check my hoses and valves for any defects to them before I start taking it apart.

the revs at a certain speed in each gear will always be the same.. if you're in 5th gear and doing 80kmh and your revs are at 2.5krpm, no matter what goes faulty, the engine will always be at the same revs at this speed on this gear... unless you mean it feels like, even though you let go of the throttle and it stays at that speed without dropping, it could be the air to fuel mixture not being right\leaking and causing it to try and rev more than usual.. more air means more fuel. if there is no leaks in any lines, than look at your iacv

the only way i can possibly think of the revs being higher at the same speed at the same gear would be a slipping clutch.. but i highly doubt that's the issue.

Update on problem, in plugged the battery from car reset the ecu clean the sensors clean the vacume host made sure all the hoses were connected properly and clean my battery was a shit load of corrosive acid or battery residue problem solve since Saturday will update again next weekend if problem persist! Thanks for all the help guys and personal thanks to Alps!!! Make sure ur hoses are connected most likely this was cause by a air leak!
