View Full Version : Drivers Side Wheel: High pitched squealing
Had an issue with my front right hand side wheel not long ago, took it in and it turned out to be the factory Honda brake pad was somehow making a clunking sound when I applied the brakes. The guys at the shop fixed it, I think they mentioned shaving it down a bit and the clunking was no longer there.
Now I have a high pitched squealing sound once the cars heated up (2-3min into driving) and you can hear it here: http://www.4shared.com/music/sCC8amzo/Memo.html
Any ideas what it could be? The guy is said to specialize in Honda's took the wheel off and inspected it, all he could think of was it being an issue with a caliper clip because everything else seemed in good nick (and fairly new brake pads).

Does the sound happen when you brake? Are you running aftermarket rims and it's rubbing on the caliper?
I've had a similar sound to that on my eg, jack the car up, spin the wheel and see if you hear the sound, do it for each side. Then take off the caliper and look at the bracket/brake pad clips, if it's rubbing which I think it is, there should be fresh metal.
Use a screw driver and gently knock it back a tad, test it and it should be fine.
Everything is stock apart from being lowered on Eibach springs, it happens mainly when driving normally and then when I brake it just has a higher pitch to it.

Bump it, at 2am, after an hour?
You high?
Wheel bearing.
Caliper.
Pads.
Dust shield.

the clunking noise you heard is most likely a missing retaining clip on the pads. I had mine missing and would hear it especially when reversing as the pads bang around in the caliper. new pads came with new retainer, all fixed. Shaving off more of the pad prob made it worse.
Another thought is that upon reinstall your mech has knocked the low pad indicator and is rubbing where it shouldn't be.
Wheel bearing if its not consistent when you brake
It's when I'm driving normally not just when I'm braking as you can hear from the sound clip.

Sounds like a stone to me as it appears to oscillate up and down in tone/volume.
Dust shields from the ones I've seen have always been much louder and scared the crap outta me.
Sure it not pads? I'd say just swing off your caliper and have a look/clean.
