Aim: To fit a Carbon Fibre Js Racing intake to my eg5 HB.

http://undergroundimports.com.au/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_intale.JPG

Time: 1hr or less

Required:
- 10mm Ring Spanner/Ratchet
- Standard Screw driver
- Phillips Screw Driver
- Js Intake
- 1 Nut/bolt/washer

Info:
Yo with much who har and what not around this intake i took it upon my self to get one in and fit it, simple to do, here is my guide, pretty easy too.

Step 1:
Ok pop your bonnet so we can romove ur existing intake. Min happened to be a sexy JDM eg6 SIR stock box and pipe, i shed a tear. Simply remove all teh hoses hangin off it, remove the clamp on the throttle body and also teh 3 10mm bolts holding the box to the body.

http://undergroundimports.com.au/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_bye%20bye%20stock.JPG

should look like this when its all gone:

Step 2:
Ok now time to put the intake together, but on the rubber reducer at the Tb end on with clamp. Ok first we need to bend a brcket so u can fit the dam thing in there!!
http://undergroundimports.com.au/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_bend%20bracket%7E0.JPG

Step 3:
You will have to reroute a coolant line just near your fuel rail. You DONT have to but if i leave all that pipe lying around i could rub on your intake and wreck it, simple as a re reout and a joiner
http://undergroundimports.com.au/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_coolanyt%20line%20adjust.JPG

Step 4:
Ok now that thats all sorted, fit the intake pipe minus the filter, itll eb pretty tight in places, but it should fit, even with a strut bar.
http://undergroundimports.com.au/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_fit%20with%20no%20filter.JPG

Step 5:
Ok now fit the filter and use the rbacket provided to make a intake stay. this is who i hooked it up and it is very sturdy, i migth change it later, when i build an air box and what not, but this was i didnt need to mod the bracket and/or make another one. it was included. BTW i removed the cooland resevior just to get a lil but of extar room.
http://undergroundimports.com.au/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_bracket.JPG

Step 6:
Ok now tighten all teh clamps nuts and what not, rejoin all hoses and giev it a quick shake to make sure everything is all tight and stable. then reset your ECU. remove the ecu fuse out of the fuse box and leave for 10mins.
http://undergroundimports.com.au/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/normal_reset%20ecu.JPG

egSi
21-03-2005, 07:46 AM
Step 7:
Put ecu fuse back in and start ur car and let idle for bout 10mins and dont touch anything!! no revs or anything!! onces it warm, go for a squirt and make sure all is in order. Recheck all clamps and fittings after a 'spirted drive' to ensure all is stable and well.

Good luck and well done.

it resets ur air/fuel mixtures, the ecu 'learns' ur setup and when u change somthing ie. tb, mani, exhaust, intake it is good to reset it and 'run it in' with a reseted ecu.

highly recommended that u do it.

It's excellent how you use your own products in your car and supply a DIY!
Can't wait to see the box!

BTW, What is that black cord thing coming out of next to your strut bar?

Nice write up man. Are there any differences in flow between the carbon fibre and the normal replica? Have you used them both? Are the filters they come with different?

yeah i have noted the differences somewhere man.

the cf one is slightly thinner and the filter is a different shape, th cf one is way better, much lighter etc.

no worries man, diys own, more coming very soon.

as for reseting a aftermarket ecu. if its aftermarket it should be tuned to that particular intake that was on when ecu was fitted, not sure on that one.

G-Stick

Check your local Roads' Authority website (VicRoads), and refer to their Vehicle Standards Information. Calling them will give better results.
Ask them the legal aspects as to what you may, and may not have, and under what circumstances.

For example, you CAN have an pod filter on a car in NSW, however, legally, it must be boxed. This is because oil based filters may catch alight due to high engine temperatures.

hey man... i have a 92 teg LS... n i'm interested in that intake... still have stock man? and probably cheaper on the cost? cos i'm living in perth man, and low on cash.... but would love to have the air intake done...

not sure about qld but nsw drivers will have to also seal off the head of the pod from the engine bay otherwise it till be a defect!
