I can not see any visible difference from Spoon Change Rod over the OEM JDM Type R as JDM Concept (and JDM Yard ?) sell but I just upgraded to the Spoon Shift Bushing Kit on my JDM ITR linkages an the throw between gears feels like it's just 5mm and super notchy.. not sure how good it would be if you're running a weighted gearknob but with an extension on your shifter it would be quite good.

Looks identical to me.

My setup is on EG with B16 but the dimensions are the same as DC2R. THe ITR linkage and shifter upgrade was one of the best mods i've done to my car.

IF you have the JDM linkages already I probably wouldnt bother with the spoon linkages but the bushings are great ! I am not certain if AUSDM ITR linkages are the same as JDM ITR, perhaps someone can clarify that one ?

I think Spoon Calipers are designed to run OEM JDM ITR pads so any pad that will fit OEM Type R calipers will fit your Spoon Calipers. I think the JDM ITR pads are the same as S2000 but I am not 100%.

why spend the money? why not just put a $50 doller set of hard race bushings in the stock one? oh wait do spoon include stickers with there shift linkage?
also im 99% sure the itr linkage is the save as the vtir one except the itr one dosnt have a weight welded on the back and its also not painted. what i dont know is how is the jdm one diffrent? dose it have bluetooth??

HAHA.. free stickers ?

The DC2(non-R) is a lot different, the Type R shift rods are a lot beefier and straighter. .. there are NO weights welded on anywhere - the diameter of the rod is larger hence the weight may be increased over a standard set of linkages.

From what I can tell, the Spoon Linkage Set IS just the Type R items. The upgrade over EG6/DC2(non-R) is where the massive benefit comes in to play. made a HUGE difference on my EG and the bushings are VERY GOOD. this is a part you cant see so no bling points from having it. Form < Function on this item.

IMO: If you have a Type R, upgrade the bushings will give you a noticable improvement in the shift.. Hard Race/Energy etc.. all will offer a big improvement over stock bushings - even Type R.

If you have a non-R, upgrade to Type R linkages if you can find some, or get the Spoon if you want a nice long white and blue cardboard box - it's the same thing. If you buy some used type R linkages and shifter then i'd say DEFINATELY upgrade the bushings while you have the rods off the car.

If you cant afford Spoon Parts, that's no reason to criticise them ;)

Spoon one looks like its boxed up in that last pic. Also the U-joint bushing is upgraded, which is something known to get sloppy and not easily replaceable

Thank you mate! Very clearer now!

But for the brake pad aspect, I want to ask what pad and disc should I use?
I am thinking of DBA club spec + DS 3500 / Ds2500 pad
or
Project Mu scr pro + DS3500
thank you very much!

If anything the Spoon linkages would be reinforced more than the ITR linkages, however

Spoon Sports claims that the shift rod is lighter and stronger than the stand JDM ITR shift linkages. Improving precise into shifting gears. They will sell the linkages with the bushings to suit the new design

In terms of being a waste of money, it is not. Spoon Sports is a tuning motorsport and they make everything even if it makes slight improvement. This way the advantages build up with more reinforced parts of having a faster circuit time.

The cars they race retain a certain "class". My point being that they try to go all out re-creating/reinforcing/balancing the standard OEM parts and still be classified in the same "class", how awesome is that?

However our system in Australia is totally different for circuit racing. We don't have certain tuning company battling and selling their own classed parts, we yet have business's that yet only try to build the fastest car's with different aftermarket support. Spoon Sports, JUN, J's racing etc doesn't, they make their own products and they go out race, come first, get their name up for their products and try to enthusiast the customers that they come first - by having the same classed car as OEM.

I hope I made sense, this is not my own thoughts. This information was informed by many documentaries of tuning companies around Japan. This is how they work.

you would have to be an amazing driver if the only thing holding you back from faster lap times is that damn stock linkage, seriously though i can understand the value of products like this for profesional teams where every last drop of performance is being pulled from the car, but im yet to see anyone here who could legitimently justify sprending, what? 500-1000 at a guess being a spoon part on the benifets that this would bring over a set of good bushings.

the only way the majority will see laptime improvment will be if they sell this linkage and buy more track time practice.
