the setup is good but ditch that Kenwood HU, as i mentioned before, it does not provide the best finer tuning features.

for the same price, get the Pioneer HU. JB hifi got this on special with 6inch coax included.

Tell me this, what's so good about the pioneer head unit? :/

kenwood only has 3band EQ, only has Sub gain controls
Pioneer has 5band EQ, as well as sub frequency and gain controls, also features HPF (high pass filters) too... good for split systems.

ive had kenwoods, pioneers, jvc, alpines...and for the budget vs features ...id go pioneer as its user friendly and never had any issues with them,

Kenwood ive had issues with in the long run, the anti-shock mechanism tend to fail and youll get skipping songs whilst pumpin!

Alpines as just too difficult to tune and is definately not user friendly.

Alpine not easy to tune? Pfffft. I find alpines very easy to use (mainly cause my last two units have been alpine >.> Although, the kenwood was very very basic to use. I've had higher up alpines, which are a lot different)
Also, my old kenwoods anti-shock mechanism failed after a while D:
I don't know though... Pioneer headunits look pretty ugly, however, if it has better specs, it seems like the better option. (Implying looks are everything... they're only half the problem :D)

As I said on the mcm forums, swap out the type s coax' for some type s splits, they're a lot better sounding. You can also set them up to sound heaps better than the coax ones.
Also, if I were you, I'd invest in some dynamat, so your speakers sound even better again.

Overall I think it's a good set of gear (Except the Kenwood). Make sure you install those front speakers good, or you'll just get poo sound.

A custom box for the sub is always best, but the pre-fab ones work OK for the most part.

Only Pioneer head units worth getting are the PRS ones. The rest are too cheaply made.
Spend a few more $$ and get something that will last. Alpine CDE-117 or similar has plenty of tuning features and good quality sound.

That unit isn't just a few more $$, that's a fair bit more... But none the less, agreed. Start off with something decent, and you won't have to upgrade that. I have one, it works really well :D

My pioneers deh-1220 (i think) does wonders and tuning capabilities..

Cost me $90 with free 6in 2-way coaxials.

HU has usb, aux in, rcas (Really Crappy Appliance), remote and detachable face.

Not too worried as its cheap and basic look (anti theft).
