Just out of curiosity, but is anyones fuel gauge really off? Like it's not reading correctly? Is this a common problem with EK1's? Or is mine just a one off thing?

there could be a problem with the "fuel gauge sending unit"

it's usually located within the fuel pump which is under the rear seats

this could be the reason why the fuel gauge on your taco is off

It's just starting to annoy me haha! Knowing that i can still get out an extra 70-100kms out of it but my fuel gauge is reading very close to empty!

I think that's the time when gauge shows empty tank and warning light comes on ?

that's a normal behaviour, almost all taxi drivers in ukraine drive with gauge shows emply and till light stops bling and being constantly on )))

even though you have another 9 litres when the fuel light is on the fuel pump wont be able to suck it all up.

tell it to my fuel pump =)
i've seen a man shakin' his honda on the parking lot for pump to pickup some fuel, so he can drive few blocks to the petrol station

Yep, it's a common problem in Honda civics.

Just curious though, how far are you able to go on one tank? I can get to about ~420kms before I start worrying

honestly its better not to try to scrape the bottom of the tank, theres usualy a fair bit of sediment in there that the pump is more likly to pick up in a low fuel situation so i personaly allways fill up at 1/4-1/3 not a major point but i hate working in fuel tanks so anything to stop the strainer filter from cloging

Hey guys!

Got a clarification on this!

I have a 2000 Honda Civic CXI Model and the fuel light comes on when there's about 7L or less in the tank! So yes, it does work! (on my model anyways!)

You could take fuel gauge needle off then reset it to where better suits you

My EK1 Civic has the same problem, but I aint worrying about it, and in one tank around tank I managed to get 500kms before i chickened out (i was being nice to my civic due to gearbox), then on the country side i managed to get 650kms (Millicent, South Australia to the far east side of Melbourne) before i chickened out cause i was going through a town outside of Melbourne and it was coughing a little at the lights haha, and when i filled up, had 2 litres left in the tank haha

Yeah my Ek1 has the same issue, always reading wrong and my light doesn't even turn on even when it's empty lol

Fill up and reset your needle. Set it up for lower than full.

If the needle isn't at empty it might not turn the light on.
