hey guys i was speaking to a guy from my work today, and he saw my car,as im currently in the process of stripping it down.
he was going on about shedding 50kgs on your car is an 'equvalent' (sp?) of 100hp. or something like that...
can anyone shed some light on this, or even know a web site with a calculator? cheers

haha....naaa....its nothing that huge. I think from memory it would be equivalent to about .1 sec off the quater mile for every 50kg or something like that.

It's basically a ratio. If your car weighs 1000kg and you take out 50kg, you've reduced your weight by 5%. This theoretically would be the equivalent of increasing your power 5%. So if it was originally a 2000hp car, you'd make a 100hp gain. But more realistically, if your car is 200hp then add a 5% gain... it would effectively feel like you'd gained 10hp.

Eww, pounds!! It's really not that hard.
power / weight = kW (or hp) per kg
weight / power = kg per kW (or hp)

how much weight have you shedded from your car?
if you put a cage in it will be back so either have a car which is the same weight as standard with a cage (being safe on track) or interior great around town even though i know you dont like giving people lifts which is why you stripped the beema
