Hi Everyone,

Just wondering if such device exists on the market that locks my doors automatically at 15 km/h? Long story, but my partner was at the traffic lights and some bogan kids opened the passenger door and ran off. I guess it was just a prank but she hasn't been in the car since then!

I was in Thailand last year and all the FD Civics there had this feature... while in the USA they also had this feature on their Civics... I couldn't care less at the time... but I looked through the manual today and there's instructions on how to turn this function on, but reading through another thread on ozhonda from 2007, it's apparent that this function doesn't exist here??? Dunno but I have a 2010/2011 FD... so if my car doesn't come with this auto lock feature, can I do something to get this feature?

Thanks.

The feature is there as I believe there's a spot in the owners manual that explains it, but the feature is unable to be activated on our models.

I'll look it up when I get home, but yeah I remember looking into this myself, now I'm just used to hoping in and whilst I wait for the engine to warm up I lock the doors.

Thanks for that mate! Got the same thing in my manual. Doesn't work. :-(

I wonder if it's a software or hardware thing that disables this for the AUS market...

The auto door lock feature is not enabled even in the newer AUDM civics, jazz or insight.

For those of you interested, I have successfully enabled the auto door lock through the use of an OBD speed lock device which is very small and plugs into the OBD port of the car. The device cost me around $15 AUD including shipping from China through the aliexpress website. You can search "OBD Honda door lock".

Note that there are two OBD speed lock device, one for pre 2012 honda and one for post 2012 honda. Honda changed the wiring for 2012 to incorporate the smart entry and push button start system.

It was very straight forward to install the OBD speed lock, you need to plug it into the OBD port and tap into one wire under the dash. I can confirm it works in 2011 Jazz, 2011 Insight and 2010 Civic. The doors lock after a few seconds of starting the car, then if a passenger unlocks the door to get out the doors will automatically lock again. All doors automatically unlock once you put the car into either park or turn it off, I can't remember. There is also a safety feature which that unlocks all doors in the event of a crash, obviously I havent tested this.

Hope this info helps some people as I have been searching for a speed lock solution since my 2007 Jazz!

Hi stevo, these were the instructions that came with it. I bought one, after I confirmed it successfully worked I ordered a second one. The instructions are in chinese but it is fairly self explanatory. You tap into the "light green wire", mine for some reason was not really light green but it is the middle wire of the bunch. Anyway I went to supercheap and picked up a pack of KT Cables scotch lock blue 1.5mm (code PLU 286451) to tap into that wire.

I know the auto door locks was removed on the hatch due to safety concerns.

Mainly relating to that the auto locks may not disengage if the car is involved in some type of accident like rolling, crashing into a body of water.

May that is why they removed it on the UK/AU models of cars.

Kind of silly for Honda to remove it when other cars sold here (such as the Commodore) have this feature.

Perhaps honda want to be safe than sorry.
