It has been done as my dealer said quite a few 2003/2004 owners demanded a full size spare when purchasing the vehicle. It was a $750 unofficial Honda "option".

The 05 model has the same boot so it will fit - the one difference, however, is the polystyrene is a different shape for the tools - so you can either source this polystyrene from Honda parts or put your tools somewhere else in the boot.

Do you have a spacesaver in the boot or full size rim yfin ? :D:D

On another note how do you find the drive with your 225/45 17" rims compared with the 205/55 16" honda OEM rims ?

theoretically it should, since you are not increasing the overall diameter of the wheels. Unless of course you go 17 inch but you fit tyres that increases the overall diameter, which throws your speedo reading off. Now you wouldn't want that, would you :D

Nah - I have the spacesaver at the moment. If I go on a long interstate trip or something like that I will think about taking the full size with me. The problem with space saver is the 80kph limit plus the associated handling/braking issues.

The 17" rim rides similar to stock 16". Not a huge difference - I think tyres make a bigger difference. The car is more responsive though as unsprung weight has dropped a bit.

If anyone else wants to rid themselves of space saver - let me know as I have 2 OEM rims available.

I would have thought the stock 17 rim plus tyre is equal to or heavier than the stock 16 rim plus tyre?

His 17" rims are Prodrive GCO7C's, not the stock 17" Honda rims.

Full size spares were introduced for the 05 models onwards. The well is the same, so a full size will fit in it -- but the boot floor then sticks up slightly over the top. My 06 with a 17 inch spare -- remember the 17s run 225 compared to the 16s with 205 -- doesn't have a flat boot floor; it might annoy some people, but it doesn't worry me as it actually makes spaces to stop things from rolling around as much.

I don't know about all Hondas -- the 03-04 Accord Euros had space savers (and were condemned by motoring media for it).

Has anyone been able to buy the inserts for the boot to keep the floor flat from handa ??? i tried a while ago but the parts girl was only new at the job and didnt have a clue. If someone out there has them could they provide the part numbers and approximate prices. I have just ordered a 5th wheel to replace my space saver and would like the boot to have a factory look. Cheers Gibbo...
