hi guys, I have recently been given a 95 Civic from a friend, I'm having issues starting it, I turn the key in the ignition to turn it over and it doesn't do anything, the issue began when the battery went flat, it was recharged and has not been able to be started since, I have lights and what not come on in the dash, radio fan etc are all working just doesn't turn over, it also has a green light (pic of a key in it) in the dash flashing, from what I have read on the net its something to do with the immobilizer, so i'm assuming the immobilizer has kicked in and preventing me from starting the car, is there any way to bypass/trick/remove it? the car is not going to be put back on the road, I want to get it running so I can teach my daughter how to drive on our property.

best to ask the friend you got civic from

could have the remote and probably know about the issue

could be weak battery = try using a different battery

I have the key, but that is all, he didn't have a button, I have a jump pack hooked up to it so it have more than enough battery power.

if theres ment to be a remote but isnt thats not a huge deal however it sounds like the immobilzer isnt reading the key. so the keys and immobilizer need to be re coded. i know dealers can do this, donno bout random mechanics/auto elecs or random scan tool owners

there is no black plastic on the key at all, it's just a bare key, i'll take a pick of it this afternoon when I get home from work.

This model civic has an immobilizer system that requires a chipped key (transponder key) to start it

You may have to get the immobilizer control unit reprogrammed with new keys

that's interesting, why is it that it was working fine before the battery went flat and once charged, no good? sounds a bit strange to me. if I can get away with not spending any money on it that would be great, as it's nothing special, I just want to use it for driving lessons.

your starter motor could have possibly been fried.

your are immobilised as you have lost the transponder in the Key

did you get a red key ?

PM me as I can program in new keys when you have lost all transponder keys including the red key

unfortunately this is the only key I got with the car, is there any way at all the immobilizer can be bypassed?

yes there is

is your civic CXi VTi or VTiR

VTi and VTiR ECU have a free option to bypass the immo

CXi ECU is different and requires a PCB add in to be installed
