Here is the one i bought:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/380375030516?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3222wt_1163

the fitment was good... but other brands of player might have different results.

Any other questions? just let me know!

does it work with the steering wheel controls?

kyfer

no, but that isnt a problem for me as my hand is always resting on the gear stick which is perfect for the player.

I just got my double DIN fascia kit from Honda for $88, haven't installed it yet so no photos unfortunately. Funny that the Honda one is cheaper, had to wait a few weeks to get it ordered in though.

Parts guy at Eastern Honda (who is awesome) thought it wasn't the right kit because it was so cheap, so he double checked and it was definitely the right one. Some people got it for ~$79 a few years back if you read earlier threads here.

Really? Could you link it to me? Yeah $130 was a bit much but it was express from the US, got here in 2-3 days.

This guy said $80 back in 2008 (http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?80668-Double-DIN-for-Euro&p=1567377&viewfull=1#post1567377). So $88 today seems pretty cheap. I think it's because it's meant that you buy the fascia kit AND a Honda cassette player attachment (or additional CD player) but you can just use whatever stereo you want instead. Read the rest of that thread too, has some good photos.

O wow, i gotta ask how much Honda in Sydney places charge. Does this include the harness and all that?

Softcox

Yeah comes with harness, brackets, screws etc

Yeah I paid $80 from honda a couple of years ago too.

Hi, did you link the new head unit to the factory head unit with a harness? if so, did you have to wire anything else in (ie. park brake) and do you run new speaker cables from the new head unit? any info on the install would be appreciated. regards, Jake

Need a split harness so you can have both the old unit (for HVAC) and new one connected. Obviously don't need to split everything though. Park brake may be required to legally enable video, etc. If you want to use the stock speaker wiring, then you don't need new speaker cables, just use the ones on the stock harness. If you are wanting to run amp(s), then ignore those and run new RCA cables. Also likely to need a steering wheel control adapter to use them on the new unit. Some gps units can also take a VSS input for use in tunnels, etc.

Might be a stupid question but is it possible to use both head units? Does the stock head unit still function?

Why would you want both units running? Stock needs power for HVAC controls/display, but is otherwise redundant. But sure, you could wire them both up.

wiring both up would cause issues as when you power 1 unit up it will send power via the speaker connections and blow the other headunits internal amp and possibly cause feedback

Well that would depend how you wire them up. For instance I've heard of people using the 2 RCA outputs from the 2nd unit via an aux in module to the stock head unit. Could also add rear door speakers and wire one unit to the front splits and the other to the rear door+parcel shelf. As I said, I'd just wire the stock unit up so you can use it for HVAC and use only the new unit for audio.

Thanks for your reply. sorry to be dumb, but can you explain how the split harness works please, and what i will require?

i will be running all audio from the new headunit, and the existing unit will take aircon etc.

can i use a honda iso plug? if so what would i connect up and what would i leave?

thanks in advance.

Jake

1: Window Antenna Coil Amp.

20: Ground

That's the stock wiring harness.
1: Window Antenna Coil Amp. ->to new unit
2: Ign/Switched +12V -> to both
3: Steering Wheel Controls +ive - > to SWC unit or new HU if it supports OEM controls directly.
4: Multiplex Integrated Control Unit -> not sure if required. safer to wire to old unit
5: RR +ive -> all speaker wires to new unit if using stock wiring. Tape/shrink tube if using RCA's
6: LR +ive - >ditto
7: RF +ive - >ditto
8: LF +ive - >ditto
9: Illum./Dash Lights -> to both
10: +12V -> to both or run new 12V line to new unit.
11: Steering Wheel Controls Ground -> could wire to SWC, but any ground will do.
12: Nav. Unit -> not needed
13: Nav. Unit -> ditto
14: Nav. Unit -> ditto
15: RR -ive -> ditto
16: LR -ive -> ditto
17: RF -ive -> ditto
18: LF -ive -> ditto
19: Dimmer -> to old unit or don't bother.
20: Ground -> split or use new ground point.

Honda to ISO plug? Wouldn't recommend. Use the ISO to bare wire plug that came with your new HU and buy a female Honda plug which goes to the stock harness. Also need a mail harness to go into the original unit. Then just a matter of wiring from the female connector to either the old, new or both. Also keep in mind that the metra harnesses don't have all the pins/wires so you may have to swap pins to for instance get the steering wheel controls working and if you need all the pins, then you need two harnesses so you can grab the extra pins off of the 2nd.

So one of these to plug into the original unit (if you need additional pins, just swap out a speaker wire):
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000PC5IE6/ref=pe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item
one of these to plug into the factory harness and a 2nd if you need the extra pins:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0002BF09S/ref=pe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item
and if keeping steering wheel controls on a unit that doesn't support them directly:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00B4PJC9K/ref=pe_385040_30332200_pe_309540_26725410_item

You can see from above they are missing:
3: Steering Wheel Controls +ive.
4: Multiplex Integrated Control Unit
11: Steering Wheel Controls Ground
12: Nav. Unit
13: Nav. Unit
14: Nav. Unit

Nav, presumably not an issue. MICU, I don't know. SWC ground, can ground on anything, SWC+, maybe not an issue?

I'd suggest soldering and heat shrinking all joins.
