Hi all, I've gotta replace my tyres they're VERY worn. I think I've just got cheapies on at the moment that were replaced when I bought the car from a dealer a few years back.

I need 225/45R17s for the standard rims.

I've called around a few places and asked for their recommendations for mid-range tyres, I've had:

JAX:

Hancook around $160/tyre
Pirelli $200+
Recommended the Continental MC5 which is on special for $185 ea and the 4th tyre's free (so seems like good value)..

Bob Jane:

Recommended Kohmo (spelling?) KH15 for $172
Yokohama C2? $195

Any thoughts on these or other recommendations please? Not that keen on going over 200/tyre. Particularly interested in whether there is any reason not to try the continental since I've had no-names on anyway...?

Thanks :)

I replaced my OEM's with Sailun Atrezzo tyres.
They have a tread wear rating higher than the originals, 300 vs 130, as well as higher ratings for temp and grip.
Got mine installed by a mobile fitter.
Cost around $440 in total.
Had them for 15k's so far....great tyres...low noise, not uni directional (means less hassle with rotating from front to back etc), stick fabulously well in wet and dry.....
Why would i go back to Bridgestones etc....
Everything else we buy comes from China, why remain a tyre snob?....

Forgot...

Check the forums for wheel alignment advice too....
Very relevant for the Euro....she's not your average front wheel drive car after all....
