This is normal..
Just that VTEC uses more petrol etc.. dunno why the gauges moves around, but I reassure you that it's normal.
With the petrol prices these days, I always think twice about vtecking..

Yeah i think its pretty normal with the civics they are not too accurate. In mine its te same as you describe one moment i can be on half a tank and after a little pedal it will go to almost empty for a while then back up. Kidna sucks but guess you have to live with it.

its coz ur petrol is sloshing round your tank, therefore moving the float which detects petrol

you can notice this when you drive up a hill it appears empty then when going down the other side it appears really full or vice versa i dont remember

yes true but the gauge is ment to have a slow sampling rate to stop the sudden change of the needle, and you shouldnt notice the guage moving with cornering and start stoppping.

My civic is the same - it is instatn affected by hills , or hard braking etc - going form a half tank to enpty in about 39 seconds parked on a steep hill ! *light comes on...WTF*

Whether this is another issue relative to - or jsut that the civics fuel guage SUX....
