I have a clicking noise when I turn (right I think). The car has new outer CV joints, and is fairly well looked after.

The gearbox is a bit whiney, could it be the diff bearings? Or a wheel bearing?

I've only just bought it so want to find out whats up with it.

Thanks,

yeah its only when turning. Ive had a good poke about and there is no play in the shafts or bearings. the car needs new TRE's and a inner CV boot.... prehaps its an inner CV joint?

i just had a simmiler issue but i got a clunking (shook the whole engine and gearbox assy) every rotation of the wheel even ragardles of tuning or not. it was the inner cv where one slide would bind on the wall of the joint (poop rebuild prior) couldnt even tell untill i had degreased everything eather. i know you said its not the drive shafts but i thought id share the story as its not a common diagnosis for drive shaft failure...

TRE = tie rod ends?

Pretty much answered your own question, if you already know whats wrong with it.

How bad are yours?
Loose as? or just a bit of play?

Are you getting a single click? or continuous clicking as your turning?

continuous, and the boots are shot and they have play, and knock going over potholes etc.

Continuous sounds like your outter cv joints are gone.
How old are the outter cv joints, if your car is lowered it'll kill the cv's quicker?

the car isn't lowered, and the cv joints are brand new apparently.

if the joints are brand new, they still could be stuffed.

Especialy if they were a bit tight.

lol well who makes these shit CV joints then...??

I've never had a new CV joint cause trouble. Only when the old joint has been repacked, badly.
