Hello everyone :) My name's Matt, I'm currently selling my Legnum and looking at buying a 8th Gen Civic. From what I've researched so far I think it's the way to go. I was considering a Corolla but after looking at both the Civic is so much nicer.
I do have a question that I can't seem to find a clear answer/consensus on is what engine is better the 2ltr or the 1.8ltr. From what I can see the 1.8 is more common and the 2ltr is only in a few models. I'd be really interested in hearing your opinions.
Also if anyone has some advise on what to look or lookout for that'll be great too.
Anyway thanks for your time and you're sure to see a bit of me on the forum once I've purchased the little beast :)

If it's Auto only then that's out. i definitely want a manual. Why make a sport model Auto only??? That sucks... I thought for some reason the vti was the 2ltr... It's so hard to get clear info on this car for some reason.

Thanks for your reply though :)

8th gen 'sport's come in manual

'sport' .

also, the k20 that comes in them is a lame-tec version of the k20. not a good platform to build off.

So you wouldn't go with the 2ltr then? I won't really be doing anything to it besides a full exhaust and a k/n panel filter....

hmmm

if that's all you intend on doing, either engine would be fine. One's not particularly faster than the other. the 2.0 just uses more fuel (think 10L/100km) whereas the R series engine (the 1.8) is a bit more packed with technology to reduce fuel usage (think 7.5L/100km lol).

Cool man the 1.8 sounds like a go'er then. I've heard that the 1.8 revs a little harder as well. But thanks for your reply it's helped me a lot :)
