Hi guys,
I'm looking at putting a new motor in my track dedicated eg2 siR.
I know everyone will be quick to recommend K series but to be honest I can't justify $13,000 when with my stock b16 I'm running 1.11 at W.park with no LSD ect with 1.10's definitely achievable with a sway bar.

At first I wanted to build my box with LSD, flywheel, gear set and aftermarket clutch as my motor and car has only done 8,700km but I'd be spending $3,000 to do so.

I'm leaning towards either putting a b20 block with my 1600 head coupled with LSD and 4.9 final drive.

Or b18c7 long block and using my stock trans but adding LSD and final drive.

What do you guys think??

LSD should be top of the list, will trim more time than any other mod - did for me. It's fun to have more power though and if you're able to do the b20 block swap yourself its a pretty cheap path to lots more torque and power.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking, worse case I can build my box and I can always bolt it up to a b20 or b18 later.
LSD will give me a lot of pull out of the corners and the 4.9 final drive will mean I can take turn 1 and the fish hook in 3rd gear

What mods have you got already?

Lightened flywheel and LSD. Leave the motor untouched for as long as possible.

Besides coilovers, brakes and rubber. Just straight/side pipe and intake.
