same prob.. i haven't had much spare time lately to really have a go at peeling it off... so i've resorted to peeling it off during my drive home in Sydney's wonderfull peak hour traffic...:D gives me something to do!! about 50% through. So far the only tools i've used are my finger nails, as its fairly deteriorated and comes off easily enough! Will have to clean up the edges though maybe with a knife, to give a clean line where it meats the painted and glass areas....

then i will spray it a matt black...!

Manual says you first have to remove the door inner panel, the plastic, the sash trim, glass and the mirror. The sash trim is the piece that is on the outside on the door running vertically. Dunno if you really have to remove all this.

To get the outer moulding out. It says to pry up at the rear end, removing the clips, then slide it toward the rear. I'll probalby do it next week if anyone wants to wait. I can put up pictures.

yea mines peeling off too, best way is wid ur fingers, otherwise you'll scratch the metal if u use anything else.. best way is get replacements, not worth spraying coz you will still have bit of the rubber edge crumbs around ..

I took mine off and painted them.... we just pulled them up and brought new clips when we put them back in....clips were like 0.50c each and i think there is 5 of them in each door.

Painted the ones on my prelude and they look like new (http://www.preludeaustralia.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5922), on my civic I took the black stuff off and it looks good chrome but it didnt suit my car so I rubbed it with scotchbrite and now have the brushed alloy look.

I was quoted $500+ for 4 brand new ones from a Honda dealership, what a joke. My EG civic sedan has the same problem there starting to peel as well. Its difficult to pull them without breaking the clips, just have to buy some new clips.

Had a go at removing these today. Excuse the small arrows in the pics. resized after putting them on. Just look for the little green bits. First off, I removed the sash trim. You can see in this pic the three screws you need to take out to get it off.
http://www.ozhonda.com/gallery/data/2/2426inner_door-med.JPG

Just lift it out and slide it out of the window trim at the bottom. It sort of slots in.

Gently lift up the window trim from the rear end and you will see some white clips. Here is mine removed. You can see the clips and the arrow pointing to the place to push in.

Here is a pic showing where the clips are located:

Ok. This is where I admit defeat. I did get the trim off. But I broke one of the clips. You can get a thin flathead screwdriver in underneath the trim as you gently pull it up to push the clips in from the outside. They "should" pop up once you push them in. Or, if you have spaghetti arms you can try and get to them from the inside of the door with the lining removed. Short of removing the glass, I not sure what else you could do.

Once all the clips are out slide the trim piece towards the rear out from behind a bit of the mirror.

Hope this is somewhat useful.
