Thanks to U-Pull it I survive another day, BUT what needs to be done to fix the starter motor ??? The issue is that the solenoid doesn't seem to engage ie just clicks and then does what it's supposed to. So I assume the brushes are fine as when it engages there is plenty of cranking/starting power ....please adise ?

I would check your battery first as sometimes low voltage cause the starter motor to click
then try hit the solenoid with hummer to confirm there worn/loose bushes

still doesn't start it 100% comfirm starter motor is gone

These days it easier and cheaper to buy new starter motor than rebuild them

Pat88c you are a legend ! It DID turn out to be the battery as last Saturday (20th) my wife got caught out and called me to say that the "new" starter motor wouldn't crank over. Oh well one can always do with a spare starter motor LOL.....dang !
