EG aircon buttons for direction not working

did a dash swap and brought the aircon control unit with it.

but now the aircon only blows out of the side vents and window vents i cant use the buttons to direct it how i want eg, feet cooling or just blowing at my face. instead it freezes the windscreen.
all other buttons like AC and the fan intensity and hot- cold work (although very stiff)

any ideas? the plug for the direction is the one behind and below the CD player right?
and is there a way to loosen up the hot/cold air control cable?

can you hear or see the motor moving when you press the buttons? All your connectors plugged in? Grounds all bolted down?

well i plugged in that side of the loom re connected the ground near the steering colomn the electric motor does not run the buttons arent responding at all.
