Hey guys,

So after my 2005 Subaru Liberty was recently written off I've been in the search for a new car for the past 1-2 weeks and have since decided on the Accord Euro Luxury. Because I wanted something nice to sit in, nice looking, reliable and has some decent grunt.

So I live in Sydney and have $20k to spend so the models I can buy that fit my price range are 2007-2008. What are the differences between both models and is the 2008 simply superior? I don't plan to do much modding (besides some aesthetic stuff like rims, some badge removal, etc.), sound system, or perhaps lowering (if it needs it), or bigger wheels.

Keep in mind that I'm on the lookout for a silver Accord Euro with black leather interior only.

What do you guys think? Obviously this forum will be somewhat bias but I'm making the right decision here correct?

Any other advice (especially on what to look for when inspecting the used car) would be very much appreciated!

Thank you.

EDIT: This is what I've found so far, because I have no car at the moment and both me and the girlfriend share a care my search for a new one is fairly urgent.

If you are lookiing to mod, go with the cl9 (more performance parts out and about). I own a cu2 because I like the styling. It basically comes down to, which styling do you like? Both cars are of exceptional quality although they might be some pinging issues on the CU2s which I have come to learn from this forum. CL9s have a slightly lower powered engine than the CU2s but I think they are lighter than the CU2s.

And don't expect both cars to handle like a Subaru Legacy (flat around corners or minimal risk of hydroplanning). Friends of mine own Legacies and boy do they have exceptional handling. Expect the stock sound system to be better than the Legacies (10 speakers on the CU2 with a decent sub), faster acceleration at the straights and look better (bias).

I choose this: http://tinyurl.com/bnur34d

Oh yeah things to look out:
1. Engine ping (usually only if the car is new).
2. Transmission (if auto). Make sure the AFT used is a Honda dw-1 instead of the zw-1 which has been replaced by the dw-1.
3. If you are buying a car close to 80k km which has not been serviced, make sure you have reserve cash to do the service. It's one of those major service and it costs a bomb.

Comparing CL9 and CU2

Good luck!

No worries. Keep us updated on your progress. Accord Euros generally have high customer satisfaction and they have no inherent defects.

Just to clarify:

cl9 = Years 2002-2007

cu2 = 2008+?

Broken it down to these two right now:

(sorry, in a bit of a rush so don't have time to tinyurl it).

get the one with the lower mileage. You can defo bargain with the dealer. Try asking them to slash $1.5k from the asking price ($24888). I always prefer cars with lower mileage.

CU2 = 2008 -2012.

What does everyone think about this one?

Is this bodykit a waste of time or an insurance nightmare? Because it's pretty cheap and the kms are ridiculously low.

Looks pretty good. Not sure about pricing though as I' haven't been keeping tracks myself. Bodykit should be fine as it's a modulo one, meaning factory (to the insurance anyways).

So I just had a look at this one:

http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/details/honda-accord-euro-2008-14709033?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=0&eapi=2&__N=12 16%201621%201247%204294766528%204294965322%2042949 65100%20898&num=15&silo=Stock&Range=Year%3a2007%2c 2008%7cPrice%3a15000%2c25000~0.5&items=%5bSeries%3 a8th%20Gen%5d&sort=default

And apart from a couple scratches, it's pretty perfect. I'm going to send a mechanic I know to it tomorrow to see if he can come up with anything but it's looking good.

Couple questions, I've managed to negotiate it down to $22k, what do you think of this price?

Secondly, is the Navi version of the Accord Euro worth it? I'm spending a little more for it and is it really just a GPS built in? Any other extras?

Thanks.

Here is the one I'm going to go with:

http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/honda-accord-euro-2008-14493522?base=1216&vertical=Car&cr=18&eapi=2&__N=1216%201621%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294 766528%204294965322%204294965100%20898&num=15&silo=Stock&Range=Mileage%3aMin%2c150000%7cYear%3a2008%2c2010% 7cPrice%3a15000%2c25000~0.5&sort=default

I'll see how low I can haggle it down too (under $21k) but the low kms was awesome. I drove it and it was perfect, and the guy has has kept the car in flawless condition (one minor scratch after an extensive search by myself). Gonna send a mechanic to it tomorrow, but I'm very keen on this one.

How much would you guys recommend I pay for the car I linked in the post before this one (52kms Euro). Because I've gotten an offer but not sure if I should take it.

This is just one year older, 10,000 less kms and is a whopping $5k (approx.) cheaper.

Opinions?

IMO the 6MT cl9 is many times better than the 5AT cl9 as i have test drove both. Kinda regret didn't get the 6MT cause I'm fairly urgent of getting a euro during that time due to the popularity of the car.

I'm really sorry to bring this up again guys, but I just need to ask.

Is it worth spending $4k more on an Accord Euro cu2 over the cl9 (2008 and 2007, respectively)?

Provided I don't really have the money to spend and the cl9 is a lot closer to my price range (although slightly lowish). But I really prefer the chunkier look of the cu2 and massively prefer the interior of the cu2, as the cl9 looks quite outdated. I could possibly get together the funds to pay for the cu2 but it would take me over 3 years to pay off (instead of 1.5).

Would a 2007 cl9 with only 44kms last very long? I just feel if I bought myself a cu2, it would last me longer which is what I need this car to do (want it for 4-5 years).

Opinions? I know I've asked about this a lot I just need some more advice.

How about this? I know it is a manual but with the bodykit & euro R wheels... woop!!

140,000 km and he's only asking for $17,000.
Tell him he's dreaming. $11,000 max.

How have you gone ?

Personally I would spend the extra to get the newer CU2,but that's personal,as ALL Euros are fantastically built ,sporty sedans...

hey, I think this one is amazing value for money as it comes with the modulo bodykit, which the full one costs around 4k, as that's what I was quoted from honda and its the luxury navigation which as you may know its top of the range, if I was looking for a car under 25k I would go for this, we purchased our cu2 from Peter Warren Honda last year for 35k and it was only the luxury version but later installed aftermarket gps and reverse camera and we also purchased it when cu2 prices were high and our one was one of the cheapest around, good luck and all the best :)
