I want to get an Injen cold air intake for my cl9.

Would it be weird just getting the cold air intake alone and no exhaust or headers?

New exhaust and extractors is going to break my balls through my wallet, much as I would LOVE to do it. So I'm thinking of just settling with cold air intake.

Is this social suicide?

Anyone have any pros and cons for me?

dont bother with a injen get a cheapo ebay kit or make your own with some piping and silicone bends its not worth the 1hp gain if that for the price tag of a injen.

Is it an actual CAI - as in the filter goes down the bumper behind the headlight picking up 'cold' air
Or is the filter just exposed in the engine bay

If the latter you're going to get a louder VTEC crossover and increased fuel consumption

@Jasemas- could be either filter, depending on what my mechanic suggests I do. He's a family friend, does all my dumb shit for free, so I'd much rather him do it then me fux wit it.

But, now that you mention it, I'm turning towards the latter- just the filter in the engine bay.

Pros and cons of both?

@2MPRS

In the words of Kevin Lamar; "fock dat, nicca"

I'd much rather pay for an Injen. Or if you have another brand that would do the job nicely and "cost-efficiently"?

Instead of getting 'cold' air into the intake and into the combustion chamber etc.
You'll be bringing in hot air which uses less fuel and generates less power

But it is louder though through the VTEC crossover

Best advice!!
Get the ct ice box carbon from states for 450 usd shipped
U should notice a difference in sound and slight in provement in torque

Don't buy injen

@black euro

So how does the K&N go for you?

Im not gonna say that I saw an increase in power and torque coz its minimal but i felt a better response in acceleration! And the sound was amazing!

have a read of this

Where's the best place to get the K&N Typhoon? Quick google search tells me it's about $300 in the US.
http://www.jscspeed.com/catalog/Honda_Acura/04_08_TSX/Intakes/K_N_Typhoon_Cold_Air_Intake_for_04_08_Acura_TSX.ht ml
or about $350 shipped to AU from USA

shiet that's quite expensive, is the pipe crafted from a single soldi piece of aluminium or something?

As long as the pipe doesn't soak heat i don't see why an ebay one is any worse off

Guys, I just returned my Plastic lid Icebox after having fitment issues, the mounting holes completely didn't align.... Couldn't screw it in properly, returned and now ordered an Injen. Hit up Marcus at heeltoeauto.com, does a good price on his stuff :)
My 2Cents, yet to have the injen in operation but it'll be here ina few weeks.
dale.

6MT go for K&N Typhoon or Injen
5AT go for CT Icebox

Icebox from heeltoeauto.com
Injen or Typhoon from ebay.com

Caleb, I wouldn't trust buying an icebox, as I said above I bought mine from heeltoe and received it after a few months (because they had to make it specifically) and it completely didn't fit.. I ended up spending $550 to get the injen because of sending back the icebox and losing $120 worth of freight when I could have spend $360 in the first place and be happy.
Just my opinion, the icebox looked pretty shonky and as I said the moulding wasn't fantastic..

I contacted K&N for the K&N typhoon and they told me they cant recommend any CAI to me because they cant guarantee it will fit in the hood/dimension differences/tuning differences/etc. of our Accord Euros.

Which is the correct K&N Typhoon CAI that will fit in our CL9s?

Wow, really first bad thing I have heard about the icebox, no seriously, maybe you where just unlucky? If I was going to buy one I would go with the carbon icebox, just build quality would deff be better thats just me tho each to there own.

Have you read some of the reviews on HT's website? there were a few bad batches of them apparently, maybe I got an old one or something but it took long enough I assumed they made a new one..

Try asking for the Acura TSX intake, even thought they are still CL9's... weird they had no answer..
