So noob question...
Whats the reason alot of modders avoid Rota wheels like an STD?

They consider it a lower quality like fake
And when some pictures came up with broken Rota people will be put off more
also its the brand thing
would you really show off your clothes from Kmart or Designer brands?

ROTA wheels are not made to the same specs as JDM wheels and hence dont have the little FAP stamp in the side:
http://www.cartype.com/pics/4034/full/jwl_lexus_rx350_12.jpg
ontop of that all the wheels they make are styled after other popular JDM designs.
ROTA grids for example are just knock offs of te37's
ROTA circuit 8 are MUGEN mf8
ROTA slipstreams are SPOON (desmond) SW388's
why give money to a knock off brand

yeh the idea is if u where to slide into a curb most fake rims would break crack or shatter, but these JWL stamped wheels would bend and absorb more shock. either way you would have to replace or get it re finished.

TBH Harricade, I think it's mostly hype. I'm personally not fussed about rota vs genuines on a cheaper/daily/idgaf kinda car... however if you're going for an expensive build on a legit beast, it definitely gives a 'tacky' look.
Same deal with XXR and sportmaxx

its like fake nike vs real
the fake one still covers your foot and seems ok
I will feel stupid wearing the fake
Get whatever suits ur budget, as long as ur not joining the "stance" showing them off lol

Hahhahaaaa at animation.
Ah ok, never knew Rotas made fake wheels.
Im all for quality for my money on my car.
So 'bad' quality makers are Rota, XXR, Sportmaxx and Bob Jane specials like Speedy wheels or whatever.
How bout good quality JDM ones?
So far I've been looking at:
Work
BBS
Rays
Enkei
Advan
Did I miss any other JDM quality wheel makers?

JWL isnt a brand. It's the certification to display that a wheel has met the standards according to Japanese road laws.

Had a feeling Rotas were like fake but didnt know how the quality was.
Curtis too! I was close to XXR wheels at one stage. Found it fishy they cost $600 for the set.

a decent set of rims are like 250-300 per rim.
and then they can get VERY expensive from there.

they are just heavy for their size. my dad took all the steel wheels from the jazz and welded stuff on them since he thought that the steel rim would make a great base for stands.
he then went and purchased some 14inch advanti wheels for about 100ea.
they weigh as much (probably more) then by 16inch buddylcub Challenge SF

I'm 38, born & grown in the land of Rota (Manila, Philippines).
Car enthusiasts on a budget back home use them on a daily basis; & surviving Manila's moon-cratered streets is no easy feat.
A brand new set of 15's cost around aus$500, so 2nd hand they aren't worth shit.
Serious car enthusiasts will either:
1. Save enough money to buy brand new real deal wheels which hold value.
Or
2. Buy good condition 2nd hand genuine wheels which cost a little bit more than brand new Rotas.
Its all about giving credit to where it is due. Appreciating the quality, engineering & originality of the maker, & having things of value.
If these tuner companies never came into existence, we wouldn't have a scene now, would we?
Sad to say, kids nowadays value appearance over quality & originality.
