hi guys, I have an ek4 and I'm sure the cv joint is gone so I decided to buy a new set of cv shafts.
Problem is when I dont know if all ek cv shafts are the same or not because one of my mates said that it depends on the engine as well as the car.
He said ek1 cv shafts wont fit my car because i have an ek4 b16a motor. Been doing some research and still pretty lost. Seen lots of ek cv shafts for sale but none of them mention if its for b16 for d16.
Any help would be great thanks.

Ok listen
All honda sohc civics 91-00 have the same / compatible driveshafts. They are 2 shafts, one short one long.
You have a DOHC civic - which has 2 shafts, one 2 piece and the other short. Compatible parts are from any other DOHC civic or integra 91-00.

hi, I have a Jdm Ek4 SiR and I currently fitted some cv shafts from a civic 1.6L vtir to fix the knocking noise but after changing the parts, it made the knocking worse. the cv shaft I bought was from ebay :
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2-Left-Right-CV-Joint-Axle-Shaft-Honda-Civic-1-6L-DOHC-VTIR-VVTI-Quality-Pair-/380642881679?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item58a015708f&_uhb=1
I also realised that the ones I bought was a little bit longer than the cv shafts i already had that needed replacing
are the compatible parts different for jdm and audm ??

was that the cause of the knocking noise in the first place?
i blew a outer tie rod end and the Vehicle Inspection Services just presumed the knocking was from my CV joints.

no the knocking noise came with the car when I bought it. took it for RWC and mechanic said to replace cv shaft.

yeh i dont trust them, ppl say all sorts of things, check the bushings around that area, make sure none of the boots around the ball joints are broken, jack up the car shake the wheels could be the bearings. also try pull on the driveshafts.
try another mechanical inspection elsewhere, watch them run through their diagnosis if they just say DRIVESHAFT without checking they can inevitably be wrong. 9/10 times they are right but the 1/10 find themselves here in th noob forum

hmmmm. I forgot to mention the right side cv boots are busted.

oh ok.
then its fair to assum that was the cause...
take it to a mechanic. they should check it out for free if they think they will get work.
but try check the bearings at least.

From what I heard when u jack the car up, if u can move the brake setup and hubs etc up to down it means ur bearings are coming loose. If u can move it side to side that'll be tie rod ends. Some one confirm?

if its up n down and side to side then its bearing, if its just side to side then its steering

hmm.. I might replace the cv shaft, have a mate who's a mechanic and will fit it on for free but I just need to confirm before I buy... will these from an integra vtir be compatible with my Jdm Ek4 SiR?

can anyone confirm if they will fit nicely? don't wanna have to send them back again....

Not all driveshafts have dampers/ balances.
Dc2r hasn't. And most aftermarket ones don't

Yes - all 92-00 B series driveshafts are interchangeable. So EK4 / EM1 / DC2 / DC4 / DC2R / EK9 / EG6 / EG9 etc are all compatible with each other
