hey guys,

I posted something similar in the integra section because i didnt know where to put it, but basically i am a uni student with low income weekly but could still run a car, i want to buy a type r and was thinking of the dc5 because its aus spec and supposedly is easier to maintain when it comes to parts etc.

but you being ep3 owners, can you please shed some light if it costs more to own an ep3 over a dc5 ? if so how much would you say aproximately and in what department (servicing, parts etc..).

obviously being a uni student i want reliability etc otherwise i would of waited longer and bought a turbo but i plan on keeping the type r i buy for a couple years.

i would really appreciate if the owners could shed some light on the costs and difficulty of owning an ep3 over dc5 if there is any.

thanks in advance

You'd have to be pretty lucky to find a decent one for that price. Clean ones that have been looked after are still going for ~$18k.

In regards to inital question, only real difference is sourcing OEM parts. Harder to come across a wrecking EP3. Also there's more sftermarket mods available for the DC5.

I have owned 2 EP3 great cars and only faults are electric steering can fail other than that pretty much bullet proof ,don't know much about AU dc5 as it was only JDM dc5r that we had in U.K and they were great also.
