I love my s2000 and this clip just reinforces how good the car still is in this day and age.

LOL, shit stirrer XDWas being srs

Its competing here with cars on higher tier, the s2k and rx8 were around 70k and premium models

the 86 is a budget rwd sport car which the public wanted

however its quite a leap forward in chassis design for close to half price so its already a winner imo

if it had the power of the other 2 its not even contest

MMMmmm... Not really... Personal opinion...

After driving my friends stock 86 then after I/H/E...

Its not just power that the 86 lacks...

Its that... Well the reviewer said it, "Grin Factor?"

No denying its a beautifully constructed, balanced, fun and lively car but it doesn't have that special something [For me anyway] that makes me 'want' to climb into it.

for a car that's worth 20k now vs an 86 which is around the 35k mark, the s2000 is still the better option according to this review. Bare in mind that the technology is over 10 years older than what's been implemented into the 86 and its still as good. Being quick is a significant attribute in a sports car and the 86 is bloody slow. im not saying that the s2000 is blisteringly quick, but it gives you a nice surge of speed when it hits vtec and the engine screams towards the redline.

I was about to sell my s2000 a few months back for either a 370z or brz (don't like toyotas) but after a decent test drive I couldn't justify spending the extra cash on a car I didn't find as nimble and exciting to drive than my current s2000. I was looking to upgrade to something better all round and these weren't anywhere close to what I was looking for or hoped they would be.

mx5 is just as slow as 86 yet one of the most acclaimed sport car ever made

its common sense the 86 cant have the same power at its pricepoint

maybe if 86 was 70k,had a higher tier interior finish to match the price and 170kw + then you see its way ahead

this is like comparing a corolla to type r and saying the corolla is slower, yeah no shit

In my honest opinion the 86 is the better overall car
Not fair to compare a 35k to a 70k car and not fair comparing a 13 year old car with a new car either. The s2000 had barely any upgrades through out its lifespan so its basically a 10 year old car. The s2000 is a better performing car in terms of performance but not overall as a general car. 86 has 4 seats, a big boot good fuel economy and yet its fun and nimble to drive i dont reckon power is such a big issue in the 86 is just how it deliver it which is boring.

The s2000 has good fuel economy(stock), fun and nimble to drive aswell!
I dunno if you have sat in the back seat of a 86 but you'd struggle to fit anything in there.
My personal opinion..s2000 has it all

u mad?

at the last circuit club day at wakefield, a huge contingent of AE86/BRZ were present (maybe 10 cars, I didnt count).

Sticky rubber, coilovers, big brakes, full exhaust system etc !! After battling with a few of then early on, most seemed to think my Civic was some sort of god damn braking marker for the turn, Yep they all seemed to want out brake me. Well only 1 of them got away with it and he payed then rest of the day, not a single one was anywhere near as quick on the times sheet and the few owners I spoke to in the pits were gay as phuck ! In the Full wet sessons they were even slower.

So AE86/BRZ is Gay as PHUCK !!

86 = Fun car overall...

S2K = Has that special something $$$ nor money can deliver...

@ EKVTIR-T - According to your analogy, I should like Honda Civic/Integra Type Rs over my Toyota AE111 because they're got more power and in the case of the EP3R/DC5R are newer. However not the case. I still like my AE111 much more than all of them, even if it is slower outright [In city, its got more torque peak and spread than the B-Series so its more pleasurable to drive.] cause its got that special something about it that makes me smile as soon as I get in. I don't get that when I jump into a DC2R for example. So like above, its not specs nor tech nor age of car nor price bracket, its something that money itself can't deliver.
