My 2000 model CR-V is in need of some work. It's done 175K and is running very roughly. Me thinks it might be time for some new valves. Most of the spare parts seem to come from the US but are for the B20B4 engine and not the Australian B20B8 version. Question; can I use the B20B4 parts - valves, valve seals, gaskets etc? :o

Compression on cylinders 1 & 4 is almost zero.

Could be. I have not looked any further than the compression. Valve adjust could just be out or the head could be blown. Either way, I would like to know if I can use the same parts for either engine model.

TBH its not worth the effort & time rebuilding, you can pickup a low km one from wreckers for about $600 these days.

Set of valves about $160. Gasket set $150. Odds and sods another $200, and I'm still $100 ahead. Having said that, I would be happy if you can tell me where I might pick up a 2 litre low Km engine for around the $600 mark.

Checked plugs and leads? Would start by using a set of those that I know works.

What's the compression on all 4?

If you have no compression i would be leaning more towards the compression rings over bent valves...

You may well be right. Research indicates that the 1999-2001 CR-V's are prone to burnt valves. Having said that, I am still keen to find out if parts for the B20B4 are compatible with the B20B8 engine.
