Hi Guys,

I have a 1996 DB6 Honda Integra Sedan (JDM) that I first bought in NZ in 2008 and imported here when I moved. It has an auto trans and a JDM non-vtec ZC engine with big end bearings which failed about a month ago.

I am finding it difficult to find a replacement ZC motor around here and reconditioning the motor would be a pricey exercise. I inquired with Motafit but they've stopped carrying Honda motors.

Would anyone here know where would be a good place to source one from and what would be a compatible alternative engine to go. Also what is reasonable cost for swapping out an engine.

Thanks heaps.
Vishesh

yeah its not so common nowadays that engine

I guess you could try those recondition engine dealers, perhaps they have one in stock

Why not just drop a cheap B series in there? B18b from a GSI

This is a WAY better idea. B18B or B20B

Both straight fit as long as it's OBD1.

But if you are totally set on getting a ZC, the D16A8 from CRX and early EG5's is the same engine as far as I know.

Zc also goes by the name of d16a8 for Australian crx's.

i think trying to find a d16/zc DOHC anything that comes out of anything from 1996 onwards would be near impossible.

As your's is a 96, it's probably OBD2, so consider a Vtec D16Y8, Will fit your G/box and with an ECU upgrade and a bit of extra wiring you have the Vtec advantage.
Check out this thread, your's shouldn't require 1/2 the work. http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?176003-Newbie-with-a-GA2-City

Didn't OBD2 systems start to come in Hondas built around late '97?

Was only guessing on that one, so the OP's car is most likely OBD1. I've just recently sold an EG (92) that had the exact same engine /trans (D16A8). Not that common, but would give the OP more options to look at.

Pop is right, go the OBD1 D16A8 from the EG/EH Civic Si. Should set you back $200-500 depending on the knick.

Just swap a b18b into it. Can get engine and box for like $600
