View Full Version : Better mirrors?

So I've seen a couple of threads where people have or have bought side mirrors that are much better than stock but most importantly cover the blind spot on the drivers side.

This is of interest to me and I was just wondering what exactly they are called and where I can purchase some?

Thanks

You talking about Convex mirrors? I don't believe there are any mirrors out there that have no blind spot. Convex mirrors are curved mirrors and as such, they give a much wider view, thus lessening the blind spot (in a sense). There are also blind spot systems, found in newer cars, where there's a light on the mirror whenever there's a car in your "blind spot". However, from my knowledge, you can't add it yourself, or it would be too expensive to be an option. Either way though, you're still gonna need to do a head check (should already be doing so) when driving anyways.

My euro came with a Convex mirror- I use it all the time.

I'm pretty sure all Euros, and most newer cars, come with Convex passenger side mirrors and normal driver side mirrors. If you mirror has "things maybe be closer than they seem" written on it then it's convex.

I thought Convex mirrors were the little circular/half-spherical mirrors that you can stick on the side mirror?

My side mirror also has the "objects in mirror may appear closer than they seem".

Stick on ones are blind spot mirrors I think. Convex is a curved mirror which would replace/be in place of the existing side mirror.

I see.

Correction: I have the little stick on blind spot mirror on the drivers side.

Are jdm mirrors convex?

I find that my folding mirrors I got from Japan are slightly more convex'd then the stock mirrors

From what I can gather the JDM Accord power folding mirrors were blue and am pretty sure all convex. Can't seem to find a set of JDM powered folding mirrors that aren't blue and convex but ready to be proven wrong...

Yeah it is the convex mirror, done some research on it last night.

The passenger side is convex (although doesn't have the text on it) and driver side is flat.
To be honest I'd rather have it the other way around as I find it harder to turn your head to the right.
I do check to look at the blind spot anyway but the convex mirrors give me a much better field of vision, especially when merging lanes into a new road.

Could just buy cheap blind spot mirrors but that would ruin the look of the car

Its harder to see your blind spot on your passenger side rather then the driver side

If you concerned about blind spots in your CL9's there is a number of ways to help but as others have said it wont extirely get rid of blind spot all together.

You can get this small round convex mirrors that stick onto your side mirrors whether it be passenger or driver's. side

And or can upgrade the rear vision mirror to say a much longer blue glass mirror . Some have said it cuts the glare from other motorist headlights at night.

Lux rear views have the auto dimmer already so no need for the blue glass there. :D
Although the wider mirror would still obviously benefit.

I'm not sure about the wider rear view mirror. I mean I reckon the OEM is wide enough, as it covers the whole rear windscreen anyways. I can't see how the wider glass would help as all it would add would be the c pillars into the view.

You can sort of see in snoops second pic the extra vision but that might be more a case of angle than anything else since the third doesn't show much extra...

I've got the Spoon Convex mirror and that acts the same as the broadway but much more subtle.
