sorry for the stupid question:o, but im confused with some of the information I founded around the web.

I want a k24a3 engine, and there is a lot for sale but most of them are auto.

Just wondering if I just got the k24a3 engine does matter if I brought it manual or auto will it fit into a manual eg? cos im getting a jdm ITR gearbox for it.

thanks

As you said you aked a stupid question, I'll answer with a stupid answer. If you buy an auto engine, don't forget you'll need a flywheel and clutch (and the bolts) :p

Also consider a Type S box, less ITR taxation.

Yep, just pop an LSD into it. Not a big job once the tranny is off.

Buying an Auto Motor is a better choice in my view, auto is less trashed then manuals.

As above no difference in the motors. Only real thing of note is that you will need the longer flywheel bolts for the manual when you put the flywheel on, the previous ones that held on the auto flex plate are too short.

Agree with this guy.

It's always been my understanding that engines fitted with autos are slightly detuned (softer cam profiles) to move the power band downwards to increase torque at lower revs, something that autos usually require, specially with smaller capacity engines (even 2.4ltrs isn't large capacity). Whether this applies to Hondas have never been able to definetly confirm,(Honda dealer mechanics I've asked have always said, yes they're detuned) and as they are known to be designed primarily as high output engines at high revs, a mix of that and auto boxes is not generally the best performance option. So unless you are going to change camshafts etc, then it may not match a manual engine's responsiveness. Maybe you can find some powerband figures to confirm.

The factory tune is no doubt suited to the auto transmission, but i highly doubt engine internals would be different between the two.

I have absolutely no evidence to supporty my claim. Lol.

Unfortunately all manufacturers prefer to quote highest performance figures for their engines regardless. If it's going in a streeter with street perfomance as it's main aim, then a bit of extra torque wouldn't go amiss and a K24's gonna have a lot other performance benefits that would make it very enjoyable.

Good to see you're also sticking with the theme of the original question.

this is ture, even the NSX had this feature.
and the B16A5 and others.
