hey guys, im a lucky 16 year old owner of a DC2 1995 VTi-R, i was wondering what would be the best things to do to my car, without killing my insurance policy, so far ive got 17s, stereo, type R spoiler and an exhaust muffler, i was thinking maybe a cold air intake or a piggyback ECU

Man.. thats a sick first car, i got an LS for my first car and now im spewing cos all my mates have got faster hondas than me, but i say just change over you rear muffler with a magnaflow or sumthing and get an intake and headers and you should be sweet cos its fast enough as is.. good luck with it

As a learner i think the best thing you can do at this point is just drive the car normally and get better at driving. It will take ages for you to become a fully capable driver.

U might think i'm tossing but seriously it will probably take months.. so concentrate on that for a while and dont kill yourself... save the mods for later, the vtir has enough performance for a 16yo!

oh and by the way, u lucky bastard.. a very nice first car!

Id avoid the piggy back ECU for multiple reasons i wont mention here, pm me if your interested in my reasoning..

CAI is a great bang for bucks mod. Removing the restriction of the stock air box, adding an CAI pipe with a pod filter, whilst sheilding as much engine heat as possible with a DIY heat shield, and putting a direct cold air feed to the pod (See |N|'s top DIY article :thumbsup: ) would be a great, cheap and noticable first mod =]

Hey welcome to ozhonda and ur a lucky kid. VTIR as first car. My first car was a borrowed crv for two years off my parents.

Anways, because you are young you should develope general driving skill and get to know your car better before you do anything. Safety always comes first. You never know it might save your life. Don't get carried away and concertrate on mods and become a road statistics. Vtir has enough balls without modding it. I could suggest filter, extractor and zorst change but thats bout it. Don't get carried aways and have fun :thumbsup: Stay alive too.

Maybe months to learn what the car can and can't do, but on your L's you can't exactly go do twisties with your parents in the car.

1 crx show car (crx08u), 1 jap import crx si and a integra gsi now
and im still on my L's

keep it stock mod wise until you get some experience behind the wheel, do some advanced driving courses etc...
there have been too many deaths related with P platers modifying and racing their cars as soon as they get their licence. Dont follow that path - do the car cosmetically and then once you have 2-3yrs behind the wheel start to modify - but small bits at a time.

Id hate to hear someone here get killed on P plates...

All i can say is to take it easy and to count your blessings...
youve got a nice car as it is and you wouldnt want it to go to watse. develop your skills, get to know your car and get gradual mods as you get comfortable with your car. your car has got PLENTY of grunt as it is. trust me... i own one.
