Noice!
I've always liked the Spoon callipers for a simple but visually apparent and supposedly increased performance upgrade to the originals. And I'm not usually a fan of stuff put out by the likes of Spoon.

Think I'll buy some old clapped out ones and rebuild them and have them powder coated red.

Haven't used them personally but I hear they're stiffer than oem calipers so they will assist with brake 'mush' or 'feel'.

From what I've read, the spoon brakes are not much a significant upgrade from OEM.
Goods pads, fluid and lines will be pretty equivalent.
In saying that, I still wouldn't mind a set... lol..

i think its a baller statement to have spoon calipers.
dont really see that much improvement for almost $2000.
but omg, they do look good and if i have nothing else to do to my car, meaning done everything, and money is no object, i will get one too.

Hey guys. So after 6 months of my car being in the air. I wanted to fit my stock rims on, lower the car on the ground and torque up all my control arms etc. I went to fit the stock rims and they do not nearly fit over these spoon brakes. Not even close. Lol
I'm waiting in my te37 blacks to come in. I'm hoping they will fit. Does anyone know?
17x9 +45. Fit over spoon brakes?

Yep, could have told you stockies won't fit.
As for TE37s, perhaps research on an international board if you can find one.

s2ki has a massive "does this wheel fit over XXX BBK" threads. can't find them immediately though...
Some 17x9 +45 wheels fit, some dont. RPF1 doesnt for example.

that one. It lists 17x9 +40 TE37's as fitting... so you're probably a few mm from clearing.

man they better fit over or ill cry for the next 2 weeks.
the Spoon calipers are designed to have more evenly dispersed clamping pressure to increase Brake pad efficiency and longevity for endurance racing. When matched with a suitable master cylinder and brake hose set, clamping force and pedal feel is also improved over stock. There is also the weight saving over standard. Reason they are for oem spec rotors is because the homologated race series Spoon competes in demand use of various stock components including the brake rotor. Using the calipers with standard master cylinder and brake lines will still yield a good improvement however the benefits are amplified when the entire brake system has been taken into consideration.
The calipers designed to fit standard oem pads allows the user to select from a wider range of aftermarket pads designed for use with the standard calipers.
Rim clearance can be a problem with most aftermarket calipers and the seller should have explained that these may not clear standard rims without spacers etc.
Please use hub-centric spacers and it is recommended to fit extended studs and open ended lug nuts to ensure the nuts have enough thread to bite.
What bmc is recommended to suit the spoon calipers?
Depends what car you're fitting them, on an AP1 the standard bmc is fine, if for example you fit the calipers on an EG5 using the stock bmc, you will get a mushy pedal so itr bmc is recommended for that application. I'll ask what they recommended for an uprated setup on AP1 and let you know.

so the TE37's clear no problem. designed to take 4 pot and 6 pot upgrades. all is good with the TE 37's and brake kits...
