Melbourne - 5th gen,

does anyone know anywhere in Melb that I could take it to tune the tappets? This clicking noise is annoying.. and how much would it cost approx? =)

another question: why are 5th gens so popular? It seems that most people in this OzHonda forum with Accords either has a 5th gen or a Euro. Not many people have the 6th gen 98-02 model. Is it because of the nice body shape, or the fact that the 5th gens are easier to tweak up?

Yeh for sure spoon, and apple the 5th gen shape imo is prolly the best out of all the accords it has a good stance on the road looks sweet, and can be tuned up relatively easy for the right amount of $$

My best friend used to have a 4th generation Accord. He survived a terrible roll over accident without a scratch. The tyre exploded when he was driving on Highway from Brisbane to Towoomba. the car lost control and went off the highway, roll several times in the bush, both bonnet and boot cover came off the car completely.

He was able to get off the car by himself and hitch hiked to petrol station to phone RACQ. (Mobile phone was popular back then)

Smash repairer managed to restore the car.....

yeh, so many 5th gens and so many euro's, i guess 10 years ago the 5th gen was as good as the euro is now and thats why so many people bought them.

the 5th gens were way ahead of their time in refinment, features and styling. At the time brand new vti sedan was around 40 grand plus onroads.

this was atleast 10 grand grand more than a base model falcon or commodore but if u park a 5th gen next to an EF falcon or a VS commodore you can see where the money went lol.

Car magazines at the time had nothing but praise for the 5th gen accord, oh, they did think it was a bit under tyred ( just like they said with the 1st batch of euro's with the 16" wheels) and the fact that the 5th gen didnt come with a centre lap sash rear seat belt meant it came 2nd in the 1994 wheels car of the year award. it did however win the now defunct wheels quality award 2 years in a row (94-95)

Yeh if ya jump into a vn or vp as they were produced in the same year the interior of the 5th gen is just like a modern day car, in comparison to the boxy shape and simplicity of the old fords and holdens, im surprised 10 years on the car doesnt miss a beat, (regular servicng helps) ut it still looks great

That's a 6th Gen.
7th Gen's are the Euros. ;)

I think 6th Gens aren't popular because Australia only has the Auto. No manual options.

Kenny,
I've talked to you once, but only briefly. At one of the Exclusive meetups last year, at Sunshine GoCarts, and then the group went to McDonalds afterwards.
I think everyone was impressed with the noise your car made!! :)

Accord meet-up is not a bad idea!

Year 2000 Accord is definitely 6th Generation. Since 6th generation, Accord has 2 different body types. One for Japanese/european market, the other for US Market. Honda Australia didn't import 6th generation Japanese version, but only Thailand made US market version.

With 7th Generation, Honda Australia dicided to import both Japanese/European version and US version. and to help differentiate them, they give the name "Euro". and V6. Australia is one of the very few countries (if not the only one) getting both versions through official dealership.

So the previous generation accord and current V6 model we see here in Australia are designed for US market, that why they are bigger in size.

Dunno if I've already posted or not..but here goes..

2001 6th gen with cream leather. Melb. Just ordered a set of H&R Sport springs from the states + Koni Sports (Yellows). also got a set of rims ready to go on once these current tyres finish up.

Big, Black and Beautiful.

http://img164.imageshack.us/img164/2149/img2627small8tx.jpg

Rims (from Japan - VIP style (not Aussie chrome PIMP rubbish)) - orginally sold as duds, but due to the offset of the Accord, they fit perfectly. So all is forgiven :) hehe.
