View Full Version : CU2 Heater isn't very 'hot'

Hey guys,

My '08 Lux CU2 heater just doesn't feel very hot anymore.

I don't know if it's that cold this winter that it's not working but when I have it set to 'Hi' i expect hot air to be blowing out, but it's just warm air. The car takes longer than usual to properly be toasty.

My 2005 CR-V doesn't have climate control, but when the dial is turned all the way to warm I can only put my hand on the vent for a few seconds before it starts to burn as it's too hot. I can keep my hand on my for ages and it wont get anywhere near that.


Is this normal? What could be the problem here or am I imagining things? :confused:

Have you checked that your coolant temperature is warm (needle pointing close to the middle) when you turn the heater on? That is where the heat comes from.

Also, is the climate control set to recirculate? If you set it for fresh air, the cold Melb air plus high fan means there is not enough time for the heater core to warm up the air coming in.

It's always on recirculate. Every time I turn it off that funky smell starts coming out till I put it back on..

My wife's CU2 is the same. On my RB3, I set it on 23 deg and hot air comes out...in her car, at 23 deg cool air still comes out...must be a CU2 thing.

No I haven't. I don't imagine that it's hard to do?
What would I be looking for exactly? A dirty/clogged filter?

Yeah 23 is pretty cool air for me.. I must investigate using a friends CU2 also..

Dirty/old filter will cause cabin smell. Clogged filter may reduce the effectiveness of the AC, both for heating and cooling.

The air filter is located behind the glove box. The glove box unhooks and hinges down. Easy to do.
