View Full Version : How much is my s2000 worth?

hey guys,

i was thinking of possibly selling my ap1 for an ap2 (if i can find one) but not necessarily fussed if i dont.

These questions get thrown around a lot on forums but my s2k is extremely clean and id like to hear what you guys have to say.

Paint is pretty much like new. It comes with full books (62,000 kms on clock), no accident history and not listed. Its gunmetal with red leather and comes with an ap2 front bar (along with stock front bar). Also has some wheels on it but comes with standard 16's.

How much would you pay?

I'd personally keep your s2000, not many ap2s out there plus for what your asking for it I don't think many would
Pay your price for a 2000 model.
Yours has low ks, logbooks ect..
End of the day it's upto you..

2000 model s2000 value as per Redbook:
Valuation Prices
* Private Price Guide $16,900 - $20,200
* Trade In Price Guide $13,100 - $16,400
* Average Km 130,000 - 240,000
* Price When New $68,450*
Price Guide (EGC)

since urs has lower kms, but doesnt change the fact that its 2000 model with plastic rear window and no leather centre trim and small speakers on the door.

i would say max 20000 to 22000

My mate sold his 1999 ap1 black with 98,000km on clock for $23,000. Clean, but not like mine. I'd only sell it if I found an ap2 and bought that first. I wouldn't let it go and then look around. Wouldn't risk it.

Price it from 25k, if no bites lower it stealthly.

good on him.

i still doubt u can sell for more.

even in WA, where there is only handful of s2000 on the market, and 23000 for a 2000 model is about right.

Melbourne would have lot more s2000 in the market, higher supply, lower value?

Someone on here just pmd me with a 26k offer I think I can get at least that

that's funny, because i was going to say you'd get 25 - 30. the higher end of that and you are getting the better end of the stick :). what hurts you (strictly imo) is the colour of the car, if it wasn't silver you'd easily get 27+. if someone is offering you 26, it may be something to consider. i have slightly less ks than you, 2000 model, but wouldn't let it go for anything less than mid 30s.....but who knows whether anyone would offer that - which is why i don't think i would try selling it.

take it from me though, if your car is as good as you say it is, **** selling it to get another s2k. i had a fair bit of experience in the market a few years back, a little experience a few years prior to that, and i'm always watching - from what i can assume today due to the past, you are certainly better off keeping yours :).

S2000 for sales
Under 20 grand, needs new gear box and diff, exhaust tips are black from burning oil
Under 23grand, has been respayed and has shit after market wheels
Under 27 grand, car is standard but needs a new roof and interior looks a little shabby
Under 30 grand you should get some nice after market goodies, has new clutch flywheel and suspension, gearbox is good
Under32 grand should get some hot wheels and tyres more after market stuff, looks hot

Just my take on what's out there

Everyone should be well aware if your looking to spend anything less then 23-25k be prepared for disappointment upon inspection. I can grantee the information provided on the online add and what is provided on the phone, is not what the car itself is.

Give u guys another example,

Went to inspect one in the woop woop (it was basically bush area lol)

Advertised the car's body and interior being immaculate, Upon inspection there's rips in carpet holes where the badge should've been. Clutch was on its way. Engine light would randomly turn on. Looked like the last time it was washed, was in the rain lol, and yet owners are asking 20k. Saddest part is nearly all the owners were duck heads and very ignorant, even thou I was professional and never stepped over the line in any of the conversation. Even the sales guy at the auction house weren't sales worthy.

Sorry to hijack your post OP. Just i thought i would guys know from my experience form a 3 month hunt.

This sucks. Here I am ready to negotiate on 23,000 when from the looks of it is alot cleaner than most on the market. Here is the problem, the target market for these cars are young. And some tend not to see past their first drive..

Well mines on the market at the moment and i know is not priced well for the km it has but the amount of s2k i test drove before i bought mine from s2000 priced from 16k to 28k i can say price is not a good indicator of the condition or quality of the car. there were those s2000 which are snapped up by first buyer when i was 2nd in line to view them and they were all very reasonablely priced.

Simonnn

The s2k market has been very interesting over the last few years, it definitely looks like a simple what you pay is what you get so buyers are willing to fork out a little extra for a clean example.

Now sorry to bring this thread off topic, but are there any s2k drivers out there who may be potentially interested in upgrading to a 135i (black, manual, twin turbo)? I'm thinking about re-joining the Honda scene and have always wanted an s2k (didn't think it was worth posting a new thread just to see if there was any interest out there).. :)

I don't know the worth of my car is dollar figures, but I know for a fact that its better than most. Just a shame the market is hard for these cars. I still think the price is pretty cheap, and the only reason I would let it go for there-abouts it because i really need a Utility. But I rather wait, and not be robbed.

Yea mate, I tell everybody that calls that they should trust what any buyers, me inclusive say. There is a detailed thread on what to look for. Use that.
Time wasters mate, all time wasters. There has been only 2 people that have inspected the car, in the 1 month its been for sale for. Lots of Texts, emails and people asking about swapping. There are people that haggle over text messages, before even seeing the car.. I am so sick of it to be honest. I don't reply to emails anymore, and unless the text message sounds like it has some thought in it, I won't reply.
