Hi i was wondering if a small 3" xforce cannon would be loud (>100db) with a 2.25" piping? I was going to get the xforce cannon of a jazz for my ek but dunno if it will be loud or not.
My ek is basically stock asides the 2.25" custom piping i done last year.

It's an impossible question to answer, you need to be more specific i.e. how many ( if any) resonators do you have

oh sorry forgot to add that in, i have 2 resonators.

Whats quite to you mayb loud to others, what sounds good to you, sounds crappy to others......

It wont pass simple as that if ur asking about the legal DB. stock ek jus hits 88 db on the epa test from my last yrs test.

imo either put up with the knowledge that it just wont pass epa noise test an swap over the stock exhaust if u ever get done, or just dont bother with one, its just one of those facts of life unfortunately!

oh ok then fair enough, i was just wondering thats all, any way of reducing noise for a cannon? Anybody has any experience on them?If people insist on rear cannon then you need 1 or 2 of this type mufflers in the system

hotdogs really only help reduce raspyness not volume

what is that and what does it do?

Its a straight through muffler but due to the large chamber they reduce noise better while still flowing well

Does this have to get wielded in with the cannon?

u mad?

wield it anywhere in the system where itll fit under your car

wield

Oh ok then what if i run a 2.5" piping (friend is giving me his one in the next couple weeks) with an itr muffler? Would that be any good?

ITR muffler would be good at reducing noise but 2.5inch is too big for a d15 wouldnt bother going beyond 2" on that engine.

is the Xforce cannon the hotdog cannon or the oval muffler cannon, the oval muffler canon would be ok, and it was one they offered for a jazz in an axle back (i have one) with one hot dog resonator a 2inch system headers + standard cat it is not loud at all nice quiet rumble, and makes more like a silent power kind of noise.

Nah it wasnt in an oval shape, it was just round.

I been having a look on the net, and how is the 2.5" piping setup along with a magnaflow muffler (2.5" inlet and 2.5" outlet) and i'll just wield a tip.

what type of magna flow muffler? hot dog cannon, or oval muffler?

oval is gonna sound better and quieter.

wither way 2.5" is too big.

u will regret it.

oval muffler not hot dog cannon, its slightly cheaper.

And yea i know it is abit big but my pipe at the moment is full of rust and is leaking air, so i might as well take my mates 2.5" piping since his giving it away. Good on a budget right? :)

shit, i would rather spend 250$ getting one made and they can use the ITR muffler and no resonators should be fine i think

well for free yeah why not, but your free exhaust comes at a cost, and that cost is the respect of other motorists whos ears you will offend

wait this 2.5" doesnt have resonators with it?

It has 2 resonators on it, not sure how long will need to double check.

Would the magnaflow oval muffler be louder then a twin loop with a 2.5" inlet? Heard its significantly quieter.

sorry bud but d15 through a 2.5" is gonna sound bad. take it if its free but i wouldnt put money into it, unless you plan on a built B,K or turbo later on
yes the oval will be louder but it would flow better too.

does your thought of d15 apply to d16 as well? Im not after performance as of yet, just sound dont care if i lose abit of power for now.

lemme put it this way, i feel like a wanker for using a 2.5" for my b18 EG and i plan on building it..

Baby Face
13-07-2013, 10:01 PM
yes they are both rather low revving engines. need to be supporting a pretty decently built one before needing that size.

civicek
13-07-2013, 10:54 PM
decent build as in like just cams, pistons and external bolt on such as headers and intake manifold?

Baby Face
13-07-2013, 11:03 PM
want more wikid cams to match the power band to the size of the exhaust, but if u are on a budget then u have a budget.

when on a budget performance isnt as important. so it wont make the car undrivable

Daveho1

exactly ^^^ do what u gotta do it just wont be ideal and i doubt you will make any gains but if the old one is holey den hey what ever right
