Alright Ozhonda

Ive been doing some research on engine swaps, because i really want to finally put my B16a2 into my D16y4 ek.. And all this talk about OBD2's, ecu's has got me all confussed.

So story is i got a B16a2 from an 99 EM1 sitting here, with all parts (gear box, ecu, etc) except for the engine harness, which i will be getting through RYWIRE. As far as i know, in regards to the ECU, its an OBD2B and my 98 Ek1 has an OBD2A ecu.

With the engine swap, will i be using the ECU from the EM1?? Meaning that i would need to use a ECU conversion harness/Jumper Harness?

Any clarification will ease my mind!

Thanks
Neil.

Aust spec EM1 OBD2B ECUs have immobiliser built in, you can't run it unless you have it removed.

Easier and cheaper solution would be a 96-98 VTIR 2A ECU.

Send the ecu to ECU-MAN regarding bypassing the immobilizer.

From my past experiece i used the OBD1 ECU which came with the b16 on the EM1. You can buy a conversion harness from OBD2 to OBD1, it saved me alotta trouble and was quick.
But in doing so, you'll need to run 2 wires from engine bay to ecu. Cant exactly remember what it was but i think it's
Vtec Solenoid wire and O2 sensor?

I still had to remove the immobiliser from my 97 obd2a vtir ecu

you can try transferring all immobilizer units/modules, key magneto, key fob housing etc etc etc to your EK from the EM1 if you dont mind doing that!

I used my EG5s stock OBD1 harness after finding out the harness that came with the B16 was beyond repair!

OBD1 B16 so distributor and alternator were all plug n play

Just had to modify O2 sensor to 4 wire
Turned off the knock sensor via the chipped P30 S100
