Hi guys,
I have recently purchased a 2007 Civic VTI and have determined that its Transmission Fluid was never changed since purchase. The car has done around 120k. There is no issue with the transmission and it is changing gears fine.

Seller told he didn't find any problem with the transmission and belived Honda "orignial" fluid is the best. So he never felt the need to change it and he was wary that replacement fluid may not suit the transmission as much as the original.

Just wanted to understand if its normal. Are there any major risks if I dont change fluid till 150K.

Technically its meant to get done on the 120,000KM or 6 year service.

I did mine at 20,000KM and intend to at the 60,000KM service.

I'm sure your car will be fine if you don't do it, but you run the obvious risks with not doing it.

Thanks for assurance, it seems its not overly late to have ATF replaced. Can you please guide me what transmission fluid to use which is exactly what Honda put in the original car. I read posts that people use wrong fluids. My car model is 2007 Civic VTI 1.8 .. cheers..

Also where to buy the fluid and can a regular mechanic change it.

regular mechanic can do it.

they will be able to source it for you as well

or you can go to honda yourself and purchase the fluid there.
