So my power steering rack has a crack in and leaks fluid - not a huge deal - the power steering fluid as now totally leaked out and I've lost my power steering. Is there any quick fixes to get the steering to work again, has anyone had this happen to them? I have already refilled the fluid and it hasn't made a difference.

so I had a closer look and have found that my rack is fine - the pulley belt has fallen off... So I just gotta replace that, although the fluid is leaking a bit faster now than it has since a couple of years ago when the crack was found..

alright smart ass don't be that guy - the rack had an existing crack in it and still worked fine - then it stopped and I found the belt off the pulley. Capiche?

dunno how the crack got there it was there when the car was given to me by my parents... and I'm assuming the belt went slack somehow..
