final drive gears

hey all

being new to the honda game just seeing what final drive gear (e,g 4.7 or 4.9) people have been using in there b18c eg civic's for hill climbs and time attack track days.

is it a daily? or track/weekend only

It really depends on what tracks you are competing on. For hillclimb, I would go 4.9 and even as far as a close ratio set or alter specific ratios.

For circuit, well you need to look at what track you are racing on, what your top speed is and gear it from there

If you're not changing your gear rations, then 4.9

if you're changting your gear ratios to close ratios, then you might be looking at 4.0/4.2

it will be a weekend/hillclimb car so ill be doing a few track days at mallala but mainly will be doing hills drives and hillclimbs. so for a stock box 4,9 is the way to go sweet. thanks heaps for the feed back everyone

I'm going H Drive 4.9 for mine but I'm B16A which has a short 5th etc.

Will let you know how it goes if you want.
