Don't understand why you would go through all the trouble to put toda headers and a 2.5inch exhaust and run a stock cat. Lol

What do people reccomend for cats?

Are their any good high flow ones available or is it best to go to an exhaust shop and get them make up a 200cel cat?

Would be nice to purchase a stainless one? Anyone know who makes them...

The stock one is MASSIVE. Lol

Yeah I remember the stock one looking like that and then going all constricted like that one does.

^That's what my cat is. No brand lol.

Random Technology high flow cats are good but that's all I know. Not sure what else is good.

Its actually really hard to find cats for the euro.

Cheers for the input man. Thanks

So been doing some research. The o2 sensor on the stock cat is in the centre of the cat exactly. If I buy a 100cel aftermarket cat, would it matter if the sensor is just after the cat? Will it throw a light on the dash? Any input welcome. Just spoke to an exhaust shop and said a euro4 100cel is the highest flow and still will pass emissions. But they have a sensor after the actual cat part (bulgy bit) lol.

Will this throw the engine light because of emissions etc. ???

yeah I got my mechanic to alter the length of the o2 sensor.

What do u mean the length... Like the length of the cable so you can run it behind the "fat part"....

Because the stock cat has the sensor right in the middle.
So if on the new one the sensor is after the cat.... What would it matter.... That's the least emissions its gonna be (after the cat)

Just worried it would throw a light...

apparently my 02 sensor didnt reach and would have thrown a light- but I have a different set up than you so I'm not sure if that makes a difference.

But the o2 sensor is positioned after the cat section yeh?Like right after?

Fredoops

doesnt really matter
if it throws a light, get a defouler.

philipminge
30-07-2013, 03:46 PM
So you think a defouler will get rid of the light? Lol

What does it do exactly... Just space the sensor back a bit??

Does that include welding the at onto a pipe and weld on the flanges?

If so they sounds about right.

so i been looking at cats from healtoe auto. all the flanges are 3bolts.... my toda headers come off as the 2bolt traditional flange with the springs.

i looked it up and there is a photo... that is this piece between the test pipe and the headers.... anyone seen anything like this?

so are the cats made to take these adapters also?

JDM cat has a 2 bolt flange, ours have a 3 bolt flange, the thing in between is probably a gasket

if an exhaust is makign the cat they can make whatever flange you need.

if you get a cat made at an exhaust shop, all they're doing is sticking a bipe

Op

Leaving the stock cat might make a difference to your top end power readout on a dyno

But not enough to make any difference in how the car performs. Just a thought.

i understand that an aftermarket cat may not do much... but i still want it done... my car spikes several times on a dyno at 6800 rpm to red.... just want to eliminate all the possibilities.
my tuner wants me to swap out the stock cat anyway.

almost tempted to just fit a test pipe and forget about the cat... lol but dont want a fine....

so im going to fabricate my own cat now.... (buy the cat weld the straight pipe and the flanges). thinking of using a Kenobi HF100 Metal-Core Catalytic Converter that meets EURO3 regulations.

i am led to believe that any car from 03-06 less that 3.5TON has to meet EURO3 emissions. and 07/08 is euro 4.
can anyone confirm this?
