Has anybody bought one of these http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/230669817410?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649 it says to drill a 25mm hole in the back of the lamp unit. Are there any that you don't have to do that?

Correcto. Why would you get HID high beams for?

Also FYI: HB3/4 bulbs do not have those covers that require drilling.

HID are useless for main beam since they are not instant on.

This means you can not quickly flash your mainbeams

Why do you want HIDs in your High Beams? You dont always drive with them on and if anything happens and you need to flash your lights
at the vehicle infront of you. You have to wait for it to warm up to take effect.

If you want something nice maybe invest in fog lights?

Don't forget that 'flashing' HIDs will cause them to fail prematurely...

if your up to the task and have the technical know how what6 not add proper LED bulbs and i am note talking about those $5 H1 bulbs from ebay.
I am talking about the bulbs that are in those 20w LED floodlight's

you will need to remove the lens of the head light, install the LED which is mounted on a heatsink and a good one at that which is powered by a good LED driver

im sure there are times when the breaking of rules is unintentional. fancy getting a fine for creeping over the speed limit by a whole 3kmh.

Are you referring to flashing high beams or running HIDs?

I'm not against flashing high beams. If the intent of a speed camera (an ineffective cure) is to slow people down in a particular area, then flashing high beams is the preventative.

The 'fear' of cameras also encourages people to focus on their speedometer instead of their surroundings which I also disagree with

I am referring to how he said he has 1 point left on his license.

I flash my mainsbeams.

And i do not pay attention to my speedo even though it is a 2-teir one.

After my crash the cop asked "do you know how fast you were going?"
I said don't know exactly, wasn't paying attention to my speedo, but it was a safe enough speed to go through the roundabout.

I don't break road rules. I lost my points back when i first got my license.
2 Points for overloading.
And 2 points cause my P Plates fell off the window and got done for "Not displaying P Plate"

Im not a hoon and speeds through traffic. My cars too low to be speeding :)

Grayfox

Too low?

so it is below the legal ride height.

Plus why overload a car

P platers should know the P really means "P"ick on me and not provisional

Don't have to flash much in the country, high beam HID`s are great and seem to be `on` instantaneously so very happy and can see a roo at double the distance!!!

and then they dim and come back to full brightness.

which eventually wears the ballast out

You dont use high power LED's unless you know how to use them.

You use those new LED spotlights

http://www.jaycar.com.au/products_uploaded/productLarge_16739.jpg
those cost $120 at jaycar but all auto stores should have something similar and they are equivalent to a 300w globe

Huh??

Those are added to 4x4 these days.

They use less power than a halogen, give more light than a HID.

I am sure you can install something like those in the lower grill on the civic.

High power LED modules give off a huge amount of heat.
So they need to be mounted on a large heatsink.

They also need to be connected to an LED driver.

These are an example of the high power LED chips

You will need a spearate battery and a bigger alternator.
