Hi Guys,
I just recently purchased a ITR 00 model and would like your input into obtaining HID headlights.
Can anyone advise where i could purchase Integra HID lights.
How much $$ should i expect to pay for this part?
Cheers
Jim

2000 jdm? like the one in ur avatar?
cause they should have HID stock...
if its ausdm u're looking around the $500 mark...
would come down to preference in terms of the brightness and colour of the light

Any places you know of where i could purchase up new or second hand HID lights.
I might take the risk of fitting them in as long as it's not to overly expensive.
Do you have HID on your car |N| ?
Cheers
Jim

KDG brand is very reputable.i can direct you to the distributor if u wish. costs around $500-$550 for low beam, extra $100 for hi/low beam. there is no law saying that HID is illegal. However, for oz car with factory HID they use either 5300K or 5600K. As long as the colour is white, they are fine (6000K is white). U can view www.kdghid.com for more info...
Why is this even in this forum?

*bennjamin edit* your post was removed, as it was a blatant attempt at hijacking this dicussion thread. Dont do it.
q_ball: HIDs are so much nicer to drive with at night, they are easier on the eyes because of the colour temperature, they are waterproof, consume less power than halogens, etc.

AFAIK 4300K isn't completely white, just as Christina's mentioned.
And also, AFAIK, OEM S2000 and Euro HID's are 4700K, not 4300K.

Being able to see at night! Stock dc2 lights are hopeless.. even if you change to aftermarket halogen bulbs, as you would all probably agree :D

There are $400 HID but made in china. For the ones made in Korea, Japan and Germany they are more expensive. Better quality i guess. You pay 4 wat u get.

Some of these have one year warranty on the bulbs and 2 years warranty on the ballasts. You have to admit its not bad considering most others are only one year.

4200k = most lumens = brightest
colour temperature (kelvin) and lumens are not directly related. a lot of variants in the construction of the hid kit can change its light output levels. daylight is approx 5500K, and is perceived as white coz you cant see it.
also, hid lighting tends to cause more glare, so is not easier on the eyes as standard halogen bulbs. it takes considerably longer for your eyes to adjust to the increased brightness of HID compared to halogen, which is why it is very important to have them aimed correctly. also, in wet weather, or with dirty headlight lenses, HID light tends to scatter, causing more glare, hence the need for washers on HID equipped cars.

Only true for reflector based setups. Common example: DC5. It's glare central there.
DC2 is projector-based, so there is minimal glare.

i was talking about HIDs in general compared to Halogen, and not the difference between projectors and and reflectors.
hid will always cause more glare in comparison to halogen. end of story.

Yes, but the amount of scattered light (aka glare) is practically non-existant on a projector lens. Reflector lens will do nothing to keep the glare in, and in many cases will add to the glare, but a good projector setup will not cause more glare.

They're not actually that expensive. I'm importing them, can get you a set for $520. It's a big initial investment, but c onsidering their lifespan is in excess of 3000 hours (regular halogen globes are about 200 hours), they pay themselves off over time.
That, with the much improved visibility... it's the cheapest useful mod you can buy. Better than money spent on a bodykit :p

feels a lot safer to drive around at night with HID. seems to cover so much more road surface, and u can actually see potholes at night :p

My opinion? Not worth it. You hardly ever have your highbeams on anyway - and if you're going to be using your highbeams primarily to flash people, you're going to kill the ballast in no time.

hids won't warm up fast enough when u want to flash people so what u get is a dull light = u can't flash people
itr025
15-04-2005, 11:54 AM
yep. Only way to get proper HID high beam is to get bi-xenon where the low/high beam is handled by the same bulb.
Boost
15-04-2005, 07:10 PM
itr025 is right... you can get bi-xenon with low and highs produced by the one bulb. The shield on the projector housing is rotated to produce full beam which produces the high beam..
Turning ya HID on and off rapidly will also shorten the life of the bulbs..

Actually, the usual HID turn-on routine is really bright --> dull --> warms up to normal operating brightness.
So it's only good for flashing someone for the first flash :D after that, it's not much use :p
Bi-xenon is only available for H4 if you're going to be retrofitting.
